ITV Emmerdale legend Claire King ‘thrives’ off wolf-whistles and brands herself a ‘GILF’

Emmerdale legend Claire King had admitted she thrives off wolf whistles as it’s “good to see a woman stand up for herself”.

The actress, is best known for playing man-eating Kim Tate on the ITV soap – making her debut back in 1989. She left in 1999 but made an epic return 20 years later.

Throughout her years on the soap, the character has been involved in some of its biggest storylines. And it’s fair to say Kim has had her fair share of saucy affairs and flings in the Dales too.

But it turns out the soap icon is still getting plenty of male attention nowadays. And this is something Claire doesn’t mind at all.

Claire is a firm favourite on the ITV soap

Speaking to The Sun on Sunday Claire said: “If someone whistles at me from a scaffold I’ll just stand there, whistle back and tell them to keep it coming! I’m more of a Gilf than a Milf.”

The soap star went on: “And it’s the younger fans who didn’t really remember Kim from the first time around that absolutely love her.

“It’s also good for them, especially in this age of social media, to see a woman who stands up for herself, is independent and doesn’t take any BS.”

Claire first set foot in the Yorkshire Dales as Kim in December 1989 and remained there for a decade. As fans will recall she fled with her son, Jamie Tate and £190,000 of her stepson’s money.

Many of Kim’s storylines revolved around her turbulent marriage to Frank Tate. With others including countless money-making scams and faking her own death to frame Frank before leaving him to die of a heart attack.

Almost 20 years after she was last seen, Claire returned as Kim in 2018 for a guest appearance. She then returned permanently.

In 2020, Claire opened up on her new relationship with her partner, who she has been with for the last 15 years. However, she won’t be putting him in the spotlight after ditching her relationship-drama past for a stunning barn conversion with her man deep in the Yorkshire Dales.

She explained to OK! at the time: “When I was married to Pete [on-screen step-son, Amory], we couldn’t help being in the public eye as we worked together. But, luckily, that wasn’t in the time of social media.

“My partner now isn’t in the business, and that suits me perfectly well. He isn’t interested in the business, and that keeps me grounded – not that I need grounding.
