Love Island All Stars will feature a series of huge changes to the familiar format as bosses promise |most explosive season yet”.
The spin-off will be the 11th season of the UK edition and ITV bosses are introducing new twists to keep the returning contestants on their toes. Executive producer Mike Spencer admitted there was pressure from fans – who have stuck with the dating show since series one – to make the legends season even more shocking for long-term fans.
This week, it was revealed Casa Amor has been scrapped in favour of a new midway series shake-up. Now producer Mike Spencer has now revealed additional changes which will kick-off on the very first night.

“It’s going to be the most exciting series we’ve ever had,” said producer Mike Spencer. “If you love Love Island you are going to love this. You will not want to miss it. We have to make this series iconic. We’re under a lot of pressure for the fans. We’ve just got to make the show for them.
“It’s fair to say episode one has some really fresh format. It’s different. We know the background of what each person has been going in since their series so we thought about that when we were putting this together. We’re not going to do the challenge stage either that will be rested this season – but the ‘in villa’ tasks will continue.”
Mike continued: “This is a great time to test things and test the format. The show has been on for ten series we’ve tried to evolve it, especially the last couple of series. Shock twists worked for the audience last series and we’re looking what else we can do. The final we are also going to tweak. We won’t have a reunion show. So the final will answer the questions from fans and retell the stories of the series.”
Host Maya Jama admits she has nothing to do with the tweaks to the format, as a self-professed superfan she likes to keep the surprises. I ask them not to tell me things because I like to have genuine emotion. Last series, with the Casa Amor changes I said ‘Don’t tell me who goes out with who’ because I want to be able to react with the audience as a fan of the show that obviously makes it more exciting.”

Maya will interview the contestants immediately after they are dumped from the villa in a brand new set that has been build next to the main house. Bosses are hoping to capture the raw emotion of the evictee rather than wait days for their scheduled appearance on ITV2. She said: “I’m really excited about that bit actually. I’ll be there as soon as they get out there will be no time for them to think about it we just go straight into the questions. I’m not a tough presenter. But I’ll ask the questions that people want to know.”
Love Island All Stars kicks off on ITV1, ITV2 and ITVX on Monday, January 15 at 9pm
