Ricky Hatton has become the first celebrity to be given the boot from Dancing on Ice 2024.
Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern were back on presenting duty on Sunday (January 21) night as six famous faces took to the ice for the first time in a bid to impress judges Ashley Banjo, Oti Mabuse, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean.
Boxer Ricky, 45, and his partner Robyn Johnstone learned last weekend that he’d be skating in the first dreaded skate-off of the new series but he had to wait to find out who he’d be going up against.

After each of the six new couples danced this evening, it was revealed that stand-up comedian Lou and her partner Brendyn Hatfield had to face Ricky on the rink. Lou came out on top and was saved by the judges, meaning that Ricky was forced to leave the competition for good.
Speaking to Holly and Stephen after his exit, the sports star said: “I’m gutted to be going home” and went on to praise his professional parter Robyn. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, fans shared their reaction to the result. One fan penned: “You have been entertaining Ricky with your boxing routine last week, hope you keep on skating and at least you’re still smiling Robin.” Another added: “t was probably the right call that Ricky went home this week he’s the weakest out of them all.”
It comes after host Stephen was left bruised after the first live show after Ricky sent him flying with a playful punch. The new series got off to a hilarious start when the sportsman gave the TV star a joking jab on the arm. which sent him tumbling to the ground, leaving co-host Holly looking gobsmacked.
After the show, a post on Ricky’s X account said: “Ricky even landing knockout blows on Dancing On Ice. Hope you’re okay Stephen Mulhern.” Stephen then revealed: “I’m already starting to bruise!”

During a pre-planned segment of the show Ricky was asked to hold the microphone but then Stephen started to tease him by pulling faces and repeatedly propping up Ricky’s arm when it dropped. Holl jokingly told the boxer to “just hit” her fellow presenter – and to her surprise, he obliged.
The star swung for Stephen and landed a whack on his shoulder, sending the star sprawling. Viewers were also tickled, with one confessing on X, formerly known as Twitter, that they “had to keep rewinding it” for another look. “That was hilarious,” posted someone else, as another person admitted: “Loved that.” “Best bit of the show!” said another viewer.
