Eagle-eyed Potterheads reckon they’ve found a secret sex scene in one of the beloved fantasy films.
The Harry Potter franchise, based on the books by JK Rowling, might be one of the last places you’d expect to find people romping, but some fans have watched the movies so often they’ve managed to spot one that remained secret until now.
20 years after its release, that scene is in 2004 flick Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, which sees Harry introduced to his godfather Sirius Black, contend with werewolves and dementors… and come to own the Marauders’ Map.

And it’s in the yellowed parchment pages that fans spotted two characters getting it on. Used to chart the locations of people moving around Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the map is how Harry discovers that Peter Pettigrew is still alive and living in the castle.
The map also features in the movie’s credits, with the names of producers, actors and directors appearing as ink on the parchment. Also visible are a set of rather suspicious footprints in the bottom left corner of the screen – both pointing in at each other and tucked away in what looks to be a secluded alcove.
The feet are so close together that unless the people they belong to are having a particularly important whispered conversation, there simply aren’t many other explanations. Fans are now sure they’re romping, and took to social media to share their theories.
One X user wrote: “In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, in the credits sequence, you can see two people having sex on the bottom left of the marauders map.” Another chuckled: “Shout out to the couple caught having sex on the Marauder’s Map (bottom left hand corner).”
Another said: “Thanks, that’s my childhood ruined. I was 35 at the time but that’s beside the point.” But someone else argued: “These are teenagers at school. They are snogging. It’s Harry Potter, not Pornhub!”

Even credits designer Rus Wetherell has been forced to speak out on the fan theory, telling Huffington Post: “We’ve all been kids, we’ve all been in school and stuff… It was just a sort of little peck on the cheek.” He said they are “in an embrace” and “not having sex as everyone says”.
he added: “It was just something there that was amusing for the adults in the audience and kids wouldn’t really understand.” The movie managed to remain PG rated, though things certainly got darker the further on into the series things got.
