Frustrated Good Morning Britain viewers have hit out on social media after the ITV show made a change to its presenting line-up for half term week.
Fans tuning in on Monday morning (February 12) hoping to catch a glimpse of regular host Susanna Reid were left disappointed as Charlotte Hawkins was on to fill in alongside Ed Balls. Despite 53-year old Susanna’s three children all being adults themselves, viewers were quick to moan about her time off.
Susanna’s past absences during the school holidays have often been the subject of conversation – as have that of Lorraine Kelly on her self-titled GMB segment – with today proving no different. Indeed, Lorraine was also replaced on Monday by her regular deputy, Ranvir Singh.

Over on X (formerly Twitter) both changes were the subject of viewer complaints, with scores of comments directed at ITV bosses.
One user complained of Susanna’s absence: “Why does GMB keep mentioning it’s half term? We know it’s half term because Susanna has another week off. #GMB.” Another moaned: “In other news: teachers have worked 29 days this year while @susannareid100 only managed 20 ! Why does she now have to take half term off as she’s not the only presenter with kids? @gmb #gmb.”
And a third asked the show: ” @GMB why does Susanna Reid always take school holidays off? Her boys are all in their 20s.” With regards to Lorraine’s annual leave, meanwhile, one viewer suggested the name of her show be changed due to the amount of time she has off.
“@ITV change the show’s name to ‘Christine … and sometimes Ranvir” or I’m contacting trading standards and Ofcom!!!! #Lorraine,” they said. “A second added: “#Lorraine has hosted 24 episodes out of 29 (82.7%) this year, Christine has hosted 4 and Ranvir Singh has hosted 1.”
And a third slammed: “Just got back from school run, and see @lorraine #lorraine is skiving again. Her 20 plus year daughter must be on half-term again!!”

Whilst Lorraine’s half term time off is often met with criticism owing to the fact her only child Rosie is now 29, the Scot has spoken of her “deep regret” at not having more children. On the How To Fail With Elizabeth Day podcast, she confessed: “I failed! I think we just sort of ran out of time, and that was the thing I think I failed.”
She admitted she could have considered IVF or surrogacy with her husband Steve, but she thought it would naturally happen. Despite this, Lorraine spoke warmly about her daughter, calling her an “amazing girl”. She said: “I have got an amazing girl but there are times when I wish we’d been able to have another one. How lucky am I to have an amazing daughter that still likes me? [It’s] lovely, but I would have loved to have had more kids – boys, girls, whatever, I don’t care!”
