Alison Hammond left heartbroken after ‘cut-throat’ BAFTAS Awards 2024 snub

TV presenter Alison Hammond was left heartbroken after being snubbed at the BAFTAS this year.

Alison, 49, hosted the notorious annual awards last year but wasn’t given the offer during the 2024 annual ceremony. Alison helped welcome big stars to the stage alongside co-host Richard E Grant – but won’t be seen this year.

Many expected Alison to see Alison take on the role again but this year Doctor Who star David Tennant has replaced her. It was first revealed back in January that she was cut from the lineup.

According to an insider, Alison was left “gutted by the news” and she had then realised “how cut-throat the TV world can be.” A source told Closer Magazine: “Alison had really hoped that she could do the BAFTAs for another year and even become a main host.

“She’s gutted not to be asked back – especially as she has built up such a great rapport with all the A-listers in Hollywood who seem to love her too. Alison often suffers from imposter syndrome and thinks that everything could get taken away from her at a moment’s notice, despite all her success.

“She’s really grateful for everything she has going on right now, but she’s aware how cut-throat the TV world can be.” Last year, Alison was thrilled to announce the big news that she would take on the role.

“Alison updated fans and posted online: “I’m so excited to be hosting this year’s EE Bafta Film Awards with THE Richard E Grant. We’re going to have a lot of fun bringing the glitz and glam of backstage to everyone watching at home around the world. From hanging out with the stars to celebrating the biggest night for cinema, and joining the discussions with film fans, get ready for good vibes only.”

The awards taking place tonight will be fronted by award-winning actor David who also shared his excitement to be taking over the position. He shared: “I am delighted to have been asked to host the EE Bafta Film Awards and help celebrate the very best of this year’s films and the many brilliant people who bring them to life.”
