Actress Suranne Jones has been snapped on the set of her forthcoming Netflix drama, The Choice.
The 45-year old will star as a British Prime Minister in the show, scheduled to debut on the streaming service in early 2025. Former Coronation Street star Suranne is also working as an executive producer on the series, which sees her star as the newly-elected Abigail Dalton.
Co-starring Julie Delpy as French president Vivienne Toussaint, Suranne’s character is tasked with steering the country through a healthcare crisis as well as her husband’s kidnap ordeal. With life across the Channel not much better, both leaders face a grueling battle for their political futures.

In exclusive pics, Suranne can be seen on set with co-star Julie and their on-screen minder. Dressed in long black overcoat featuring a large red flower design, Suranne smiled and waved for onlookers as she prepared for filming to commence.
In further shots, Suranne, who completed her look with a gold necklace and black heels, looked much more serious presumably as the cameras started rolling.
In what appears to be a scene involving police behind them, Suranne and Julie are seen looking concerned at their surroundings. Looking equally as stylish, meanwhile, 54-year old Julie in a blue coat with maroon two-piece and bow underneath.
“A summit between the two women could be the answer to their prayers, if they can agree,” The Choice’s synopsis reads. “But when Dalton’s husband is kidnapped and Toussaint is blackmailed, they both face unimaginable choices.
“Forced into a fierce rivalry where their political futures, and lives, might hang in the balance, can they work together to uncover the plot that threatens them both?”
Suranne shot to fame playing Karen McDonald on Corrie way back in 2000. As a feisty factory worker, Karen became a hit with viewers and was known for her on-off relationship with Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson). She also famously had a rivalry with cobbles resident Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford). As fans will recall their feud culminated in a now-iconic scene on her wedding day.
However in 2004, and after four years on the famous street, Suranne confirmed she was quitting the soap. Her character Karen was last seen on Boxing Day – when Steve ended things with her.
