A Place in the Sun filming cancelled as director forced to ‘call wrap’ on Channel 4 show

A Place in the Sun filming ground to a halt amid a “disaster” episode of the Channel 4 travel series.

Laura Hamilton dished the dirt on one major blunder that caused the director to “call a wrap” on filming in Florida. Chatting to The Sun, the blonde bombshell revealed that it was a slip-up of hers that threw a spanner in the works.

She said: “There was once an episode that I did where, unfortunately, the keys for the property got locked inside the property, and we couldn’t film it. That was a bit of a disaster. It was in Florida, but that was so many years ago. So we had to call a wrap on that and then show them the property the next day, which wasn’t obviously ideal. But it was just one of those things.”

She went on to add: “It was kind of like, who’s got the keys? Oh, God, you know, imagine that thing that kind of happens at home. Who’s got the keys? Who’s got the keys? And it was like, oh my God, the keys are inside.”

She previously shared some filming disasters exclusively with Daily Star, admitting that during the key incident, all of their filming equipment was locked inside along with the keys. Adding: “In September [2021] all our cars ended up in a mudslide!”

She added to Hello!: “One minute it was gorgeous sunshine and the next the heavens opened, and it absolutely pelted it down with rain. The property we were looking at was off the beaten track, and our seven vehicles pretty much got caught in a mudslide and we had to be rescued by tractors.”

Laura commented: “It was a disaster, but it made it memorable!”, joking that viewers could probably tell exactly when the incident happened because she can be seen walking around in “mud-covered high heeled shoes”.

It comes after one couple who appeared on the Channel 4 show issued an apology after bursting into tears on the programme. Presenter Ben Hillman was busy showing Mark and Candy around various properties in Spain. The couple had agreed they wanted a fixer-upper – but one property proved too much.

Candy admitted: “I’m just not feeling this at all.” Ben was forced to ask: “I understood you incorrectly. I know you said a project is fine and the fact you are a builder as well. Have I run away with that?”

Candy said: “I’m finding that a little bit more daunting, the level of renovations so maybe we’ve not made it entirely clear?”, explaining that while they were happy to do up a room or two, the extensive work needed on this particular house was too overwhelming.

She began to cry, with Ben asking: “It’s not what you’re imagining, not what you’re hoping for. This is a project too far, is it?” Candy sobbed: “It is, I’m sorry!”
