Huw Edwards has been dubbed a ‘monster’ by the vindicated mum who first shared her concerns of the disgraced BBC journalist.
Tonight (Wednesday 31 July), the mother of the young person Huw was accused of paying in exchange for sexually explicit images has emotionally spoken out.
It comes after Huw Edwards pleaded guilty to three counts of making 41 indecent images of children. The ex-BBC newsreader admitted to possessing explicit videos of a boy aged between seven to nine.
Last year, Edwards was named to be the BBC star alleged to have given £35,000 to a young person since they turned 17 in exchange of sexually explicit images.
After learning of Edwards appearance at the Westminster Magistrates’ Court this morning (Wednesday), the mum of the young person said to have broke down in tears after learning Edwards pleaded guilty to making indecent images of children.
Speaking to The Sun, the mum expressed: “It sickens me to my core that he had those videos of that little boy when he was also talking to my child and asking them for sexual pictures.
“I knew he was an abuser – but now I know he is truly a monster.”
The woman, who can’t be named due to her son’s age, continued: “I thought perhaps it was best if I wasn’t here anymore, I felt the whole world was against me.
“Comments caused a massive backlash which even made me doubt myself. I couldn’t eat, I couldn’t sleep, I felt so alone.”
Edwards was arrested last November, charged in June and will appear in court on 16 September.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said on Monday: “Huw Edwards, 62, of Southwark, London has been charged with three counts of making indecent images of children following a Met Police investigation.
“The offences, which are alleged to have taken place between December 2020 and April 2022, relate to images shared on a WhatsApp chat
“Edwards was arrested on November 8 2023. He was charged on Wednesday, June 26 following authorisation from the Crown Prosecution Service.
“He has been bailed to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, July 31. Media and the public are strongly reminded that this is an active case. Nothing should be published, including on social media, which could prejudice future court proceedings.”
