Emmerdale Tom King’s downfall ‘exposed’ as star ‘returns from the dead’

Emmerdale’s Piper was revealed to be alive and well in recent scenes of the ITV soap as Tom King handed her over to another family without Belle Dingle knowing in yet another game-changing twist.

The much-loved dog was hit by the villianous vet last week, leaving viewers in suspense about her fate until Tom declared there was no hope for her and seemingly put her down in a bid to get closer to his estranged wife, Belle.

However, on Wednesday (August 21) ITV viewers were left gobsmacked when, despite having her own funeral in the Dales, Piper was shown to be alive and heading to a new home, as Tom continued to cover his tracks and discredit a “crazy” Belle.

The plot twist was met with a flurry of reactions on Twitter, as relieved viewers saw Piper alive. Prior to the reveal, Emmerdale bosses had been inundated with a significant number of Ofcom complaints.

“I apologise in advance to the scriptwriters when I genuinely thought you killed Piper off and berated you for it. You are back in my good books now”, one viewer notably wrote on the social media platform.

However, knowing that no secret stays hidden in the eponymous village, fans of the Yorkshire-based soap speculated that Piper could play a crucial role in Tom’s downfall, reports the Mirror. Speculation is rife that Belle might soon reunite with her beloved Piper, thanks to the dog’s microchip revealing Tom’s deceitful nature.

One fan speculated, “He’s given Piper to a couple and spun a line that she was an abused dog. Because she really looks abused, doesn’t she? Will Tom’s slip-up be that he forgets to change her microchip details?”

Another chimed: “So, my theory is that Belle will see the new owners with Piper and she’ll realise what Tom has done.” A third concurred, saying, “I think Piper will spot Belle and run to her.”

As Belle grapples with her coercive control ordeal, she’s taken proactive steps by seeking police assistance and invoking Clare’s law to investigate Tom’s history with domestic violence. What dark secrets will she uncover?

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
