Amanda Holden and husband Chris at odds over new family addition ahead of ‘DNA test’

Heart Radio host and Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden has shared an update about her new puppy, who currently remains nameless.

The 53-year-old jumped at the chance of fostering her new furry friend without consulting her husband Chris Hughes first, after hearing that she and two other pups were dumped outside Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.

Discussing her new addition this week, she told listeners: “I’m saying foster as a really tiny, loose term. It got through to Chris better than saying I was ‘fostering’.”

She went on to add: “Yes, it is a replacement for my eldest daughter who’s gone to university!”

In an update on Wednesday, the presenter said the dog still doesn’t have a name and that they also don’t know what mix of breeds she is. Kicking things off, she revealed that her family dog Rudie had been “very tolerant” with the new pup, who had been following him around in the garden.

“She just lies on her back like, ‘I’m cute, don’t touch me’, it’s very much like mine and Chris’ relationship,” she joked.

“Except, the other way around.”

Quizzed by her co-star JK on how Chris had been adapting to the situation, she said while her spouse is loving the pup, he seemingly isn’t keen on keeping her for good.

She continued: “Chris is gently falling in love with her, but he did say something not very good yesterday. He said, ‘What mix do you think she is?’ I said, ‘Well, she’s a bit of a Shih Tzu and maybe a bit of a Cavalier, I don’t know’.”

Concluding her update, Amanda said: “And then JK, you suggested getting a DNA kit for her. So, I’m doing the DNA kit and in a few weeks, I’ll announce actually what she is. But, do you know what Chris said? He said, it won’t really matter because when she finds her forever home, we won’t know how big she is going to be.

“”I just looked at him and thought ‘Are you stupid? Christopher, she ain’t going nowhere!”

Wrapping up her update, Amanda mentioned that there was still “a small f” in the term fostering, as she keeps an eye on how the pup interacts with her other dogs.

Amanda has been wedded to Chris since 2008 and they are parents to two daughters, Lexie, 18, and Hollie, 12.
