Disgraced rapper Kanye West and his never-fully-dressed wife Bianca Censori left the world wide-eyed after their ‘stunt’ at the Grammys.
Architect Bianca, 30, infamously dropped her over-sized black coat on the red carpet at the music awards to reveal a completely see-through dress underneath. She stood there with no underwear to maintain her modesty.
Kanye, 47, fully dressed, stood beside his wife as she bared all to the paparazzi and press watching on, some of who audibly gasped when she took off her coat. The world is now questioning if Kanye is ‘controlling’ Bianca within their relationship after actress Riley Mae Lewis allegedly spotted the pair arguing.
Riley told The Sun: “She didn’t look like was fully on board with the scandal he wanted to create on the carpet. It makes me concerned for what their relationship is like behind the scenes.
“Bianca did not look like she wanted to be there, and Kanye looked like he was loving the attention, knowing the publicity it would later bring him.”
During his sick anti-Semitic rant on X last week, Kanye also claimed he had “dominion” over Bianca.
So what is really going on with the dynamic of their bizarre relationship? Well, one dating expert believes that the pair could be in a Pygmalion relationship.
And you might be thinking, what on earth is that? We’ve heard from Dr LaShandra Batiste-Manary, a relationship expert who specialises with women in relationships and empowerment, who shared insight into the phenomenon.
What is a Pygmalion relationship?
Working with raunchy perfume brand, Liquid London, the relationship guru explained that a Pygmalion relationship is often one-sided, where someone in the relationship ‘dictates’ how the other should look and behave.
This is often under the false pretence of ‘improvement’ and ‘inspiration’, says Dr LaShandra Batiste-Manary, similar to the George Bernard Shaw play Pygmalion which sees flower girl Eliza Doolittle taught how to speak and dress like a member of the upper classes.
She shared: “A Pygmalion relationship occurs when one partner dictates how the other should look, behave, or exist in the world, often under the guise of ‘improvement’ or ‘inspiration.’
“While fashion influence is normal in relationships, when one person completely reinvents their identity to match their partner’s vision, it can indicate a loss of autonomy rather than personal growth.”
Kanye’s role in a relationship
This dynamic can be spotted in Kayne’s and Bianca’s relationship, says the relationship expert. Bianca’s stunt has caused mass speculation on whether it was her idea or whether she even felt comfortable in her ‘outfit’ at the Grammys.
Her outfit is said to have mirrored Kanye’s album artwork for ‘Vultures 1’, which has raised questions on whether her transformation is from her choice or if she is being ‘moulded’ into a living ‘reflection’ of Kanye’s creative vision.
This is not the first time Kanye’s seemingly dominant role in a relationship has come to light. He is often credited with Kim Kardashian’s so-called ‘transformation’ from ‘trashy’ reality star to high fashion icon.
The head Kardashian’s style dramatically changed when she got in a relationship with Kanye back in 2012. Speaking at Business of Fashion’s inaugural BoF West summit, Kim said at the time: “I always thought I had really good style – until I met my husband and he told me that I had the worst style.
“He was really nice about it and cleaned out my whole closet.”
Fast-forward to his relationship with Bianca, who he married in 2022 after finalising his divorce with Kim a month before, Kanye has been accused of ‘controlling’ her with a set of rules. These supposed rules include only eating specific foods and that she is to “never speak”, according to The Mirror.
Dr Batiste-Manary continued: “A healthy relationship empowers both individuals to be the best versions of themselves, not a curated extension of their partner’s artistic vision.
“If someone finds themselves being ‘moulded’ rather than mutually growing, it may be time to question whether they are being loved for who they are or for who their partner wants them to be.”

- Losing independence, with the partner serving as a gatekeeper to their social or professional world
- Body language that suggests discomfort, submission, or hesitation in public interactions
