Gino D’Acampo has been accused of drawing an explicit photo of a female TV producer during live filming, with the woman claiming she was left ‘shocked and humiliated’
Gino D’Acampo issued a strong denial after a woman claimed he “drew an explicit photo of a television producer” during live filming.
It comes after Gino’s ITV shows were removed from schedules after previous accusations he was “sexually inappropriate”, which he also denies. Gino is said to feel “hurt and betrayed” by ITV in the wake of the emerging claims.
ITV chiefs are reportedly investigating the “inappropriate and unacceptable” accusations, which have been brought forward by the woman to the network. She described an “unsettling encounter” that is said to have occurred while shooting for a TV cookery program.
Allegations have surfaced that Gino created a nude drawing of her, immediately following his request to sketch her likeness. It’s claimed that the image depicted a bare female seated with legs wide apart.
“In front of the rest of the production team on the studio floor during live filming he picked up a pad and paper and asked to draw a picture of me. I thought it was going to be a harmless caricature. But when he showed me the finished drawing I felt shocked and humiliated,” the producer claimed to a friend, as reported by The Sun.
The TV producer is said to have lodged a formal complaint with ITV on December 3, 2024. The alleged sketch incident is said to be from when Gino was working alongside the lady on the same programme in years 2007 and 2008.
A source close to the woman claimed: “These incidents didn’t take place in private settings – they occurred openly, in front of other production staff. The woman hopes ITV acknowledges that this behaviour is not only a recent issue isolated to her. She felt utterly humiliated by his behaviour. It took a lot for her to gain the confidence to finally complain. She was inspired to complain about Gino, and angered, by the Gregg Wallace case when he said the women complaining about him were ‘middle-class women.'”
Speaking to The Mirror, an ITV spokesperson stated: “The behaviour detailed is inappropriate and unacceptable. We are committed to investigating complaints in an appropriate manner and according to our robust protocols.”
In response to the complaint, another spokesperson for ITV declared: “ITV is completely committed to creating an environment where everyone is treated with respect and feels able to give of their best. The standards of behaviour that ITV expects are very clear.
“Everyone is subject to our code of ethics and conduct. We do not tolerate abusive behaviour of any form in the workplace. We have set up a dedicated complaints handling unit in 2024. We have also reiterated our expectations of our on-screen presenters’ behaviour through our conduct and standards guidelines issued in 2024.”
In a statement released to The Mirror, Gino’s spokesperson said: “Mr D’Acampo was first made aware of these allegations relating to events that are said to have occurred over 17 years ago yesterday afternoon when he was emailed by The Sun on Sunday. No details have been provided, just extremely vague allegations with no specific year or person identified and no context explained.
“None of these allegations have ever been brought to his attention previously, he does not recollect them and does not recognise the allegations or the behaviour which is attributed to him. He denies these allegations. He has been told by the Sun on Sunday that they are from a complaint to ITV from December 2024. If so, he urges ITV to contact him about it and he will fully cooperate. He is deeply worried about the immense and escalating distress that these allegations are having on his family.”
