Megan McKenna has shared her experience of rushing her baby son to hospital after he was left screaming in pain and vomiting, and urged other mums to trust their instincts
Megan McKenna had to rush her son to the hospital.
The reality TV star has shared the terrifying moment her son was left crying and vomiting, which prompted the parent to seek medical help. The 31 year old, who welcomed her son Landon last October with her 27 year old footballer fiancé Oliver Burke, has been keeping fans updated on her motherhood journey through social media.
On Friday, the former TOWIE star took to Instagram Stories to reveal that she had to take him to hospital after he fell ill. She explained that Landon was distressed and dehydrated due to vomiting and became inconsolable.
Trusting her instincts that something was seriously wrong, Megan rushed him to A&E and is now urging other new mums not to doubt themselves. Sharing a snap of little Landon snoozing in his cot, the new mum wrote: “One thing I’m learning about being a mum, always trust your gut.”
“I was told to stop Landon’s omeprazole by his paediatrician. This made me feel really uncomfortable as I begged to get him on it in the first place due to him having terrible reflux from 6 weeks. He finally has got himself to a good place after being on the baby omep for 4 months,” reports the Mirror.
She went on: “I begged to get more but was told he needs to stop now. Because I was told to stop when I really didn’t want to, I’m now sitting on a baby ward after being in A&E all last night because Landon has got gradually worse throwing up so much it was scary. Screaming in pain and reaching till his face turned red and had now become dehydrated from all the vomiting.”
Megan explained that the hospital’s paediatrician “is very confused” as to why they were told he had to “stop taking it” as he “should be on it for at least six months”.
“After last night he is being put [straight] back on it and has just had his first dose. He was kept in overnight to be monitored and to have fluids put back into his body. Thankfully Landon’s back to his happy self again. He even woke up with a smile. But we’re now back on the omeprazole journey.”
McKenna closed off her message by issuing thanks to the medical professionals who helped her son: “I really appreciate everything you done for me and Landon.” She then signed off the heartfelt post with a red heart emoji.
