Lucky Gene Simmons fans could find themselves helping him out on his tour, even getting to eat a meal with him, but they’ll have to fork out for a ticket to the gig
Rock icon Gene Simmons is offering fans a chance to be his roadie for a day for around £10,000.
But despite helping the US star prep for a performance they then have to buy their own ticket for the show.
Simmons, whose band Kiss recently sold rights to his music catalogue for more than £240million, has launched the “Ultimate Fan Experience”. The 75-year-old bassist revealed on his website that at each night of his upcoming tour one lucky punter can become the “Personal Assistant And Band Roadie For The Day”.
The site noted the fee of £9,678.17 ($12,495) includes several perks including a meal with the tongue-waving big man himself.
It read: “You will meet up with Gene and Gene Simmons Band members early in the day (either at his hotel or designated location) to go over the band’s show day schedule. You will be on the team crew for the entire day.
“You will get a crew member shirt and hat. You will get crew member VIP laminate. You will have a meal with Gene Simmons (at the hotel or backstage at the show).”
But it is far from a rock star life, because Simmons expects ticket holders to graft for him.
The website added: “You will arrive and load in to the venue with the band. You will help the band set up for the show.”
Other perks include being brought up “on stage during the show and introduce you”.
He allows “photos throughout your entire experience… four items for Gene to sign (no instruments, parts, etc.) and you get a Gene Simmons (KISS-rehearsal-used) bass signed by Gene Simmons.”
The fan is allowed a guest to join them, but the kicker is that the music legend doesn’t cover an actual ticket to the show. His website noted: “Tickets to the show are not included, as they are sold through the individual venues.”
The Gene Simmons tour will kick off in California on April 3.
A year ago Simmons and his act Kiss sold their music catalogue, name, image and likeness, including their iconic makeup designs — to Pophouse Entertainment.
The deal was secured by the Sweden-based music investment firm behind ABBA’s Voyage hologram show. Central to the deal is Kiss’s plans for an avatar concert similar to ABBA.
