EXCLUSIVE: Real Housewives star Lauren Simon recalled the viral moment on First Dates where she wrongly assumed her baffled date was clued up on her telly career
Real Housewives of Cheshire star Lauren Simon has been left cringing hard when thinking back to her First Dates faux pas.
In collaboration with casino.org Lauren, 52, spoke exclusively to us about her time on the show and her future telly plans.
In December 2023, Lauren starred on First Dates as she opened herself up to another shot of love, but instead took a rather embarrassing turn as she wrongly assumed her date knew who she was and told him “You know what I do” in regards to her telly career.
In an awkward moment, she also joked about being a stripper on the show which also didn’t land well with her date. The encounter went viral as tonnes of viewers cringed at home and shared the funny moment online.
When asked about how she feels about the blunder now, Lauren laughed: “So many people mention that!
“Firstly, I can’t believe I said I was a stripper. Secondly, I can’t believe I said, “Do you know who I am?” Watching it back, I cringe, if I’m completely honest!
“I really did believe he knew who I was, as he had done every reality dating show going! He’s done Paddy’s Take Me Out three times, and he couldn’t wait to tell me how he split a watermelon with his hand or something.
“I don’t think I should have two vodkas before going on a date with someone ever again. Merlin [First Dates’ bartender] was pouring me these massive cocktails with vodka in it. So maybe I was a little loose lipped.”
Lauren also opened up about another uncomfortable moment when she had a run-in with TV’s Judge Rinder on a train, which also led to the cast of RHOC being banned from travelling with one another.
Lauren explained: “In season one, we were on a train after an awards show in London, and a few of the Cheshire girlies got into a massive fight. Total chaos.
“It just so happened that Judge Rinder was also on the train, and he called me over—not to be rude, but to say, “They shouldn’t be allowed on this train. They’re so badly behaved!” And he actually filed a formal complaint!
She added: “Since then, we’ve never been allowed to travel together as a group. To this day, they still separate us when we travel!
“Other than that, I don’t think anyone’s been rude to me—though I’ve probably been rude to them.”
Daily Star approached Rob Rinder’s reps for comment.
