Jesy Nelson has shared a big update on her unborn twins after she was rushed to hospital and required an emergency procedure to save her two children
Jesy Nelson has posted a long-awaited update on her health.
The former Little Mix star shared with her online followers that the “little babies are still going strong”. The pop star has been keeping fans updated on her pregnancy journey after she was rushed to hospital for an emergency procedure to protect her unborn twins.
Jesy is currently dealing with pre-stage twin-to-twin syndrome (TTTS), a condition that put her babies at risk of developing this rare disorder. The NHS characterises the condition as an “abnormality of the placenta”.
Thankfully, the urgent operation was successful and Jesy later confirmed that the TTTS had “cleared up” post-surgery. However, due to her “very, very short,” cervix, Jesy must stay in hospital for close observation as there’s a risk her waters could break “very, very early.”
The X Factor alumni now relies on a wheelchair for mobility due to her condition. She provided an update on her health status to her 9.7 million followers today [6 April], reports the Mirror.
Addressing her Instagram audience, she said: “Happy Sunday – we just wanted to come on here because we are another week further along and we feel so grateful and blessed that these little babies are still going strong.”
“We just wanted to also thank you so much for all your support and beautiful messages. You guys have been so lovely, we’ve seen all of your lovely messages and stories. It’s really liked helped us keep going – we just wanted to say thank you for that.”
Her partner Zion chimed in with: “Thank you so much,” before Jesy shared that they’re still in the hospital for continued observation. Flashing a smile to the camera, she said: “Going strong but yeah, we hope you’re all enjoying the sunshine.”
“Unfortunately we can’t, well can – Zion takes me out in the wheelchair down the road but that’s as far as we can go, but yeah, so have the best Sunday ever, enjoy the sunshine and we’ll be keeping you updated on our journey. Love you guys lots.”
Last month, Jesy experienced “complications” while carrying identical twins. In an emotional reveal, she said that she had “been feeling poorly” and explained her symptoms.
The singer was suffering with a “tight belly” and was “struggling to breathe,” so she took off to the hospital for a check-up. She said: “Infortunately the symptoms have got worse so they have to perform the procedure, which is obviously not what we wanted to happen.”
According to Jesy, this necessary procedure gave her twins the “best chance of surviving.”
