Celebrity Big Brother star Patsy Palmer has been showing key signs of how she truly feels about heading into the ITV house – as expert Judi James dishes her hot take on the launch
Patsy Palmer entered the Celebrity Big Brother house last night – but how was she really feeling? We asked an expert…
Celebrity Big Brother kicked off last night – and it’s fair to say viewers are in for a treat with this bunch of stars. But according to a body language expert, EastEnders actress Patsy Palmer was a little anxious.
Speaking exclusively to Paddy Power Games, Judi James explained what the celebrities were really feeling as they entered the house, and what their traits and tells told us about how well they will do in the house.
Talking about the Bianca Butcher star, she said: “Patsy’s body language was letting us know that she’s no loud Bianca, although the way everyone hugged her in what looked like acts of recognition suggested they might assume they already know her from her TV role.
“Patsy’s overkill smiles on her VT might have suggested extrovert traits but her key ‘tell’ came when she placed two hands over her stomach in an act of self-comfort and self-protection during her interview, that suggested high levels of inner anxiety about the experience.”
Judi also shared her insight about other stars including Chesney Hawke who stripped off on the show.
She said: “Chesney’s three key predominant body language cues create a high likeability profile that should make him instantly popular with fans and fellow housemates: His brows steeple in the middle to signal modest geniality; his eyes crease into an authentic eye-smile, and he uses self-effacing gestures.
“His clapping and rubbing of his hands suggest he feels he’s set for something of a career comeback, although his awkward-looking thumb hanging in one pocket suggested feigned nonchalance and some inner awkwardness rather than genuine confidence.
“His trait of putting a finger to his lips to shush the others might have suggested bossy-based leadership as a first impression and the nudity claim on the VT could have been alienating. Nudity was a feature of the very first Big Brother but might gain a chorus of disapproval if he really does start over-sharing his bod in 2025.”
The expert also gave her hot take on Mickey Rourke’s body language, she said: “Mickey is yet another Hollywood legend who claims to have never seen the show and his acts of bewilderment like asking security to direct him to the stage suggest vulnerability.
“His trait of taking control came during two key moments: one when he just got up to pick himself for the prize room rather than waiting for a group decision (no team player there!) and then there was the controlling twirling and torso-bumping of our AJ and the long glances of admiration that might not have sat well with a modern audience.
“Has anyone every needed to be physically pushed into the House before? The way Rourke stood there telling AJ ‘I want to stay with you’ as she was trying to load him in through the door was a less than impressive act of control.”
