Series creator Mike White has confessed that the scene, which was wild as the two characters had never interacted in the series before, was axed.

He told IndieWire: “That part was cut too, which is very disappointing, is that she decides to lose her virginity in the script in the last episode and she actually has s** with Zion.”

“There’s this whole scene where she’s like: ‘It’s true. Saxon is right about this one thing. I need to get this over with,’ and you know how after she leaves the monastery she’s just like: ‘I need to have s**.”

White explained that after writing the scene, he realised the episode was already an hour and a half long. Including Piper’s escapades would have bumped the finale up another 10 minutes, which he didn’t feel was necessary.

“It had a little bit of a rom-com vibe in the middle of trying to kill the family with the pong pong fruits. It just felt like I was trying to do too much narratively.”

The season three finale aired on 6 April and a key plot twist has left HBO viewers fuming. Rick Hatchett, played by Walton Goggins, and Chelsea, played by Aimee Lou Wood, head off to The White Lotus resort in Thailand.

He plots to meet his friend Frank in Bangkok and confront the man, Jim, who killed his father. After meeting Jim and his partner, Rick pulls a gun on him.

However, Jim’s partner Sritala follows him back to The White Lotus hotel and Jim later tells him to leave. However, Rick fights back and shoots Jim, killing him in the process.

Aimee Lou Wood’s character Chelsea was killed in the finale

Heartbreaking scenes played out as Sritala explained that Jim was actually Rick’s father, which started a gun fight. Sritala asked her security guard to take care of Rick. The situation escalated and Chelsea got caught in the crossfire.

Aimee’s beloved character was killed off, much to the dismay of viewers who had grown to love her and expected to see Chelsea in future series, but viewers noticed something wasn’t quite right with the storyline.

Fans took to Reddit to complain and one person wrote: “Yeah let’s go back to the hotel owned by the guy I just pushed over in his home,” while another said: “THIS! That made no sense to me. Uh, time to checkout!”

Someone else criticised Rick’s actions and wrote: “The fact that he spent the night too lmao. Like I get going to grab Chelsea, but finishing out your stay? Really?”
