Celebs Go Dating expert lifts the lid on why famous couples often have steamy affairs

EXCLUSIVE: Celebs Go Dating expert Anna Williamson has shared her hot take on why celebrity relationships often get interrupted by affairs – as the TV star launches her new podcast

Celebs Go Dating royalty Anna Williamson has shared her expert opinion on why celebrity often see affairs take place in their relationships.

Anna, who has just launched her brand new podcast, The Affair… With Anna Williamson, spoke exclusively to Daily Star about celebrity infidelity.

The TV star, 43, said: “For celebrity couples, it’s very common for both halves to have very busy schedules. With busy schedules brings less time for the relationship which creates greater risk of emotional neglect, experienced by both sides.

“Similarly, as celebrities tend to work on a project basis, it could be that one half of the couple is busy working away for a time while the other half is at home, after which, once the first half has completed their project, the second half begins working away on theirs.

“This see saw-like reality means there’s greater chance that at least one half of the couple isn’t having their emotional needs fulfilled by the other, leading to either party seeking emotional validation elsewhere, possibly resulting in an affair.

We also Anna asked if it’s possible to move on and get passed an affair, even if you’re in the public eye…

She shared: “Absolutely. Getting past an affair for any couple is no easy feat, and with an extra element of things being public, there is often an extra layer of pressure.

“However, like with non-public relationships, when the affair is legitimately left in the past, through hard work and truly honest communication, I’ve seen some relationships develop into incredibly healthy and fulfilling ones, making them stronger and better than ever before.

“Affairs most often occur when one half of the couple is seeking emotional validation, not just physical attraction. Those having the affair tend to justify their actions to themselves and rationalise what they’re doing as a way to cope with the guilt they’re experiencing.”

The TV presenter also shared there’s often more than one downside to affairs, as she added: “Affairs aren’t always enjoyable. Many of those we spoke to on The Affair said it was like being on an emotional rollercoaster, with the lows outweighing the highs.

“The ‘other woman’ we spoke to would often feel like they were the ones being cheated on by the partner of their affair partner, especially when something significant happened in the married relationship such as the partner falling pregnant, or similar.”
