Coronation Street fans have been left gobsmacked after they realised that newcomer Jonathan Howard is actually married to Hollywood actress Elodie Yung
Coronation Street fans were gobsmacked to discover that the show’s fresh face, Jonathan Howard, who portrays Carl Webster, is hitched to a Hollywood celebrity.
The actor recently made his entrance on the ITV soap as the brother of Kevin (Michael Le Vell) and Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney), with Kevin facing off against testicular cancer and Debbie grappling with a dementia diagnosis.
Away from the drama of the cobbles, Jonathan’s real life is much more serene. The 38 year old has been linked arm-in-arm with starlet Elodie Yung for over ten years, tying the knot amidst the pandemic.
The pair are proud parents to a daughter born in 2018. Elodie boasts a stellar resume with roles in big hits like The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, and Daredevil.
She’s also been turning heads as Thony De La Rosa in The Cleaning Lady. A snap of the duo was shared on a Coronation Street Facebook group, sparking a flurry of comments from fans.
“Jonathan Howard who plays Carl and his wife Elodie Yung,” one fan captioned the photo, reports the Express.
“Why do I recognise his wife?” a curious fan questioned. “She’s been in a few things, The Cleaning Lady on Sky,” another clued in.
“Oh yes! That’s where I’ve seen her!” a third fan realised. “She played Elektra as well,” pointed out another, while a fifth was left utterly astonished, dropping a mind-blown emoji in response.
Before joining the Corrie cast, Jonathan had an impressive Hollywood portfolio. He featured in several blockbuster hits including World War Z, Downton Abbey, Thor: The Dark World and Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
Jonathan’s character Carl made quite the entrance in Weatherfield, causing a minor car park collision with Abi Webster (Sally Carman).
Unaware of their familial connection, he started flirting with her, seemingly receiving positive signals in return.
Despite her claims of being married, he invited her out for a drink. Their paths crossed again when Carl surprised his family at the Bistro.
Abi was taken aback upon realising that the man from the car park was her husband’s younger brother, as he caught up with the latest family dramas.
