Jack P Shepherd, winner of this year’s Celebrity Big Brother, joined Coronation Street at the tender age of 12 and has spent a significant chunk of his life under the public gaze.

However, after a quarter-century on the enduring soap, it’s only now that he’s truly being himself on the telly. The actor took a leap into reality TV by joining Celebrity Big Brother this year, nudged by Corrie colleague Colson Smith, who bagged third place in the 2024 series.

In tonight’s live CBB final, Jack was pitted against Dance Moms’ JoJo Siwa, drag queen Danny Beard, singer Chesney Hawkes, comedian Donna Preston and Love Island’s Chris Hughes.

Fans primarily recognise Jack for his portrayal of David Platt in the ITV soap for a whopping 25 years, despite initially signing up for just three months.

The 37-year-old, originally from Pudsey in West Yorkshire but now living in Manchester City Centre with his fiancée, Hanni Treweek, kick-started his acting career in the drama Where the Heart Is. He has also dabbled in theatre and even featured in BBC’s Manchester-set drama Cutting It, reports the Manchester Evening News.

However, things could have taken a different turn as he previously revealed how he missed out on a shot at Hollywood stardom during his early years.

He had auditioned for the blockbuster film, Billy Elliot, which premiered in 2000, coinciding with his Corrie debut. Unfortunately, he didn’t make the cut, and Jamie Bell landed the iconic role, subsequently winning a BAFTA.

Jack also disclosed during his stint in the Celebrity Big Brother house that he was among the final four contenders for the role of Harry Potter.

However, Jack is now renowned for his portrayal of David Platt in Corrie, despite the character being played by another actor for a decade.

Born on Christmas Day 1990, David was initially brought to life by Thomas Ormson in the ITV soap until 2000. That same year, at the age of 12, Jack was recast in the role and has since been involved in some of the soap’s most dramatic storylines.

Audiences have witnessed David wreak havoc on his own family, including pushing his mother down the stairs, serve time in prison, endure a devastating rape incident, and tragically cradle his dying wife Kylie in his arms.

It’s been a hectic few months for Jack as his character took drastic measures amidst terrifying threats from drug kingpin Harvey Gaskell, whose money he pilfered.

Jack has previously spoken candidly about the pressures of growing up in the public eye. In 2020, he underwent a second hair transplant after confessing that his receding hairline had severely dented his confidence.

The stress of “hurtful” comments from social media users prompted him to take action.

Jack confessed at the time: “I know some people will say that I am being incredibly vain having a second hair transplant so quickly after the first one. All I can say to that was that I needed to do it for my long-term mental well-being. I have been in Corrie for 20 years now, ever since I was 12.

“I know I have been incredibly lucky and love working with such a fantastic group of actors but the relentless schedules take their toll on your mental health, particularly when you have been through as much trauma as David Platt. People pick over your appearance on social media every day and some of those comments really hurt.”

Outside of his Corrie life, Jack is smitten with his fiancée Hanni Treweek. The lovebirds made headlines back in June when they announced their engagement following Jack’s romantic proposal during a safari holiday in Tanzania.

They had been delighting fans with updates and snaps of the stunning wildlife they encountered on safari before jetting off to Zanzibar.

After their epic journey concluded, Hanni excitedly disclosed that Jack had proposed and she had ecstatically accepted!

Fast forward to October, and the couple shared news of their wedding date alongside a sneak peek of their beautiful ‘save the dates’ for friends and family. Hanni posted: “26th July 2025 we become Mr and Mrs Shepherd!!”

Jack is not just a celeb but a dad too, with three kids in tow, his daughter Nyla and son Reuben with former flame Lauren Shippey, plus another little lad with Sammy Milewski.

The Corrie star’s love life has been a rollercoaster, dating Lauren from 2002 until 2017. Their romance hit the skids in 2010 when Jack publicly said sorry for causing his family any “hurt”.

Back then, he confessed: “On Sunday, there were some articles printed about errors I have made in my private life. Over the years, I have enjoyed a successful career with Coronation Street, and with this I have experienced privileges that have exceeded my own expectations.”

He continued: “The core ingredients to my success have come from the following areas; my family, ITV Granada, and specifically my girlfriend Lauren and daughter Nyla. I would like to apologise to my family, for all the hurt and pain I have caused them, to ITV Granada for letting them down, and especially to Lauren and Nyla, who are the most important people in my life.”

Wrapping up, he added: “I now need to concentrate on what is really important, my family and my career, as I have abused my position as an employee, partner and father, and for that I am deeply sorry.”
