The star has fronted The Piano since it first launched in 2023 but she’s useless when it comes to playing any musical instruments, host Claudia Winkleman admitted
Claudia Winkleman admits she has no expertise when she hosts The Piano.
The star has fronted the show since it launched in 2023 but she’s useless when it comes to playing any musical instruments. And seeing so many amazing musicians hasn’t inspired her to start, either.
She told me: “I know nothing about music. I would never assume that I could play the piano and I would never start. I’m not talented enough. It all feels so foreign and extraordinary.” Because Claudia has no clue how to play an instrument, she is amazed whenever she sees anything play piano during filming.
She added: “I’m mesmerised by all of it because I understand nothing.
“It’s a privilege watching these people play.”
It’s not the first time Claudia has hosted a show about a topic she knows nothing about.
The star used to host The Great British Sewing Bee despite having no clue how to stitch.
She said: “When I got that job, I said, ‘But I can’t sew and I can’t even see a needle’. And the producers said, ‘That’s OK. You’ll have people on set who will know that stuff’.”
The latest series of The Piano continues tonight at 9pm on Channel 4.
The Daily Star recently reported that passengers at Liverpool Street station in London were left amazed when TOWIE star Gemma Collins was spotted playing the piano. The reality TV star participated in a day-long music marathon, surprising onlookers with her unexpected piano skills as she performed the classic tune ‘Chopsticks.’
Gemma’s performance was part of a line-up that included other celebrities, such as Eurovision hopeful Sam Ryder and last year’s winner of The Piano , Brad Keller.
The event featured a mix of famous faces and professional pianists, playing continuously from 6 am today until the early hours of tomorrow. This ambitious musical challenge was organized to promote Channel 4’s upcoming series of The Piano , which premieres this Sunday at 9 pm.
Gemma Collins shared her excitement about participating in the Pianothon with Channel 4, saying: “I loved having the chance to be part of the Pianothon with Channel 4 and doing something a bit different.”
She continued: “It was a chance see the GC in a new light,” adding, “I was a bit disappointed I couldn’t ship my leopard-print piano into Liverpool Street Station, though.”
