Truth to Met Gala confusion over Blackpink star’s ‘Rosa Parks’ face on panties’

Blackpink singer and White Lotus star Lisa baffled fans when she stepped out at the 2025 Met Gala wearing what many thought was civil rights icon Rosa Park on her crotch

Blackpink singer Lisa sparked confusion with her Met Gala outfit – but it’s not what it seems.

The White Lotus actress and K-Pop superstar made her debut at the star-studded event, which celebrated the Costume Institute’s spring exhibition Superfine: Tailoring Black Style – with the dress code being Tailored for You. Lisa’s White Lotus co-stars were pictured on the blue carpet, as were her bandmates Jennie and Rosé.

But it was Lisa’s Louis Vuitton look that got a lot of people talking at the event, which took place on Monday (May 5) at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The star commanded attention in a stunning black lace bodysuit and matching underwear.

It seemed as though many fans thought she was wearing the face of civil rights activist Rosa Parks on her undies, which seemed to feature a number of black women. One gobsmacked fan asked: “Uh … is that civil-rights icon Rosa Parks parked on Lisa’s crotch?”

Another asked: “Who the hell decided it was a good idea to put the faces of influential black women on a pair of panties?”. A third claimed: “Rosa Parks on her panties…”

However, it turns out that this isn’t the case. Lisa wasn’t actually wearing the face of Rosa Parks, who famously refused to give up her seat to a white passenger in in 1955 and sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycott – a historic moment in the Civil Rights Movement.

Henry Taylor, the artist who collaborated with Pharrell Williams on Lisa’s Louis Vuitton Met outfit, has crevealed the figure is actually one of Henry’s neighbours. “The figure featured in Lisa’s Louis Vuitton look is not Rosa Parks, but one of Henry’s neighbors,” a presentative of Henry told Vulture.

“The faces seen on this look, as well as on previous LV garments featuring Taylor’s artwork, are all drawn from his personal life — family members, friends, and neighbors. These figures come directly from Henry’s existing artworks, which he provided to LVMH for Pharrell’s debut collection with Louis Vuitton in 2023.

“None of the individuals depicted in any of the garments are Rosa Parks or other well-known figures from Black cultural history. They are all people from Henry’s own life.”

The timing of Lisa’s look was also brought up, after videos from Lisa’s training time before making her debut with Blackpink were leaked online in which she could be heard suing the N-word during performances.

One wrote: “One person said: “Rosa Parks on your underwear less than three months after a compilation of you saying the N-word goes viral is kinda crazy but maybe that’s just me. However others ignored the scandal, instead praising the look. “

She ate,” one person simply said. Another said: “Good debut for Lisa. She cute, she sexy, she’s a rockstar.” And a third wrote: “She always looks so good.”
