Dreams hitmaker Gabrielle has revealed show growing older has empowered her to ask for what she wants and to stop taking ‘c***’.

“I know my worth now I’m older, and I’m not afraid to ask for what I want” revealed the iconic singer, who is currently touring around the UK.

The 55-year-old said she used to get nervous about stepping in front of big crowds of people, but these days has found a new confidence to give her a spring in her step. “I’m in a new era of my life,” she reveals. “And actually there’s something really refreshing about doing things for you.

“When you are younger you second guess everything. I don’t do that anymore – what you see is what you get and I love that.”

But getting older has not come without challenges. ”I’m going through the perimenopause and it turns your whole life upside down,” she revealed. “You suddenly wake up feeling like you are in a new body and that can be scary, you know.

“But I’ve embraced the new season now, I’m honest and upfront about the challenges but there’s something refreshing about owning it.

“I think all women get to a place in life where you refuse to take cr*p off people and you know you’re worth and you’re not afraid to ask for it – it’s empowering.

“Us women need to stick together. But growing older is a privilege. We need to own it.

“There’s something so freeing about making decisions for yourself. And that’s what this tour is, it’s me doing everything I love with the people I love.”

Gabrielle is about to jet off to Europe for the next stage of her The Hits tour, heading to Norway next. She will next be in the UK performing in the summer at Portsmouth’s Victorious Festival.

After selling-out all 32 nights during last year’s ‘30 Years of Dreaming’ tour, Gabrielle wasn’t finished there – and announced an even bigger run of shows for 2025 which has been her biggest ever UK tour.

“It’s been so exciting,” she said. “And I feel like I’ve been playing to all my friends.

“My fans are a loyal bunch and I couldn’t be more grateful. They are there at every show, every tour, every date. And have been for the last three decades.

“It blows my mind every time I say it,” the east London star says.

And Gabrielle has revealed how one of her proudest achievements is the fact her music brings generations together. She continued: “I do a lot of meet and greets at my shows. I feel like I owe it to people and actually it’s one of my favourite bits.

“And I see the same faces and we recognise each other, have a hug, have a catch up. How many people can say that? What a fan base I have.

“I even have generations coming, grandmas who introduced their daughters to my music who are now adults themselves and bringing their children to gigs. I absolutely love it. It keeps me going, and keeps me wanting to tour.

And despite playing sold our arenas around the country, rehearsing isn’t something they have had to do much of. She continued: “We’ve been playing together so long, and singing my songs for so many years now. We don’t really need to.

“I hope we are still doing it in more decades to come.”
