Glastonbury Festival welcomes everyone from the general public to A-list celebrities, and Spider-Man actor Andrew Garfield has got one of the wildest Glasto stories you’ll ever hear
Andrew Garfield once “almost soiled himself at Glastonbury”.
The Spider-Man actor has a soft spot for the music event held at Worthy Farm in Somerset and has admitted that he once took so many drugs he came close to pooping his pants.
Garfield attended the festival back in the noughties and while speaking at a recent Q&A, the A-list actor confessed that he nearly “s*** himself” when he was younger.
He told the Glastonbury audience: “I came here in 2009 with the same people I’m here with now, my high school friends [who I’ve known] since we were 12. The first time I came, in 2002 or 2003, I almost s*** myself at 4am on a Monday morning because I had taken too many drugs.”
“I genuinely didn’t think I was gonna make it to the beautiful porta-potty that was 400 metres away, but it still remains one of the best nights of my life, weirdly. Really, really weird.”
The actor, best known for his roles in We Live In Time, Tick Tick Boom, Hacksaw Ridge and the Spider-Man franchise, is no stranger to dabbling with narcotics and has been open about his previous recreational drug use.
Andrew has even admitted that he still takes hallucinogenics, but only in “certain” situations.
Garfield addressed the topic back in 2017 with ES Magazine and said: “Drugs, the word has such a stigma. I can only really take substances if it’s a ritual.”
“I mean weed, I can smoke because it’s just nice, but with hallucinogens I have to do it in a very conscious waym in a place where I feel free and safe and can have a freak out if I want to. I want to be able to express my insights.”
“That’s what makes it so beguiling and so addictive. You get to be bigger than what you are. You get to hold more than you do. You get this divine dissatisfaction.”
The actor once revealed that he, his friends and ex-girlfriend Emma Stone ate pot brownies before a trip to Disneyland, which he described as “heaven”.
“It was perfect. It was heaven. I was with my favourite people in the world, eight of my closest friends.”
“They came out to L.A. to surprise me and we went to Disneyland and we ate pot brownies, and it was literally heaven.”
