Builders apparently don’t look back in anger when given a tough jobs and its all because listening to Liam and Noel Gallagher’s band Oasis gives them a huge lift
Five out of ten tradesmen work better when they are listening to Oasis, a new poll has found.
Researchers found 55% of brickies, sparkies and plumbers go Supersonic when the Manchester band comes on the radio.
A further 49% said that when they sing along to classics like Wonderwall and Rock ’N’ Roll Star and it helps makes them happier and faster at work.
A further six per cent said their favourite track is Don’t Look Back in Anger. Another eight per cent said they down tools to do Liam Gallagher impressions.
One plumber called Jason Walls, 39, from Doncaster, South Yorkshire, said his mood always lifts when the band come on the radio, and so does his work performance.
He said: “The comeback tour has been great news because it means all the Oasis classics are getting played all the time on the radio.
“When they come on it always puts a smile on my face and a spring in my step. I’m instantly happier in my work so it definitely helps me do a better job.
“I’ve loved them from the beginning and know all the words and always sing along.
“(What’s the Story) Morning Glory is my all-time favourite and I really love singing along to that one and sometimes I do a bit of a Liam strut. I love it.”
The DIY store Toolstation asked 1,000 tradesmen if they worked better with music on and who their favourite band is to come up with the findings.
A spokesperson said: “Our research shows that a tradesman who listens to Oasis is a happy tradesmen and that can only be good news for the customer.”
The poll also found that tradesmen like a diverse range of music genres. 57% listen to rock music at work and 56% also say they like pop music. Another 26% opt for dance music, 24% like country, 22%opt for heavy metal, and 17% R&B.
13% go for hip-hop, with just 15% liking classical and eight per cent folk music.
Six out of ten (61%) have changed radio stations because they don’t like a colleagues choice in music and nine per cent have changed radio stations because this disliked a client’s choice of music.
A third (31 %) have argued among themselves about what music station to listen to.
Liam, 52, and Noel, 58, have reunited after 16 years for a UK tour with fans going wild to classic tracks like Stand by Me, Wonderwall, Live Forever and Half The World Away.
The once-feuding brothers have buried the hatchet for the tour which is set to make them millions.
