BBC Breakfast host Naga Munchetty is “set to quit” the broadcaster as her agents approach a rival station, according to reports.

Naga’s agents have been holding talks with rival news station LBC about a potential move, following a bullying row that has plagued her over the last few months, report The Sun. Last month, it was claimed that Naga’s team were in talks with Sky News, however discussion appear to have continued with LBC until as recently as last week.

A source said: “Naga loves the BBC and her job but there’s only so much external noise anyone is prepared to take.

“Her team last week renewed talks with LBC. The Global Radio station would suit her as there’s far less of the fluffy nonsense that’s involved in working at the BBC.”

Naga has been accused of bullying a female colleague at BBC Breakfast and making an off-air sex joke. The host was reportedly spoken to by BBC bosses over two incidents in three years, including a claim that she bullied a female colleague.

She is also alleged to have used a slang term for a sex act during an off-air break at Radio 5 Live in 2022. It’s said she asked a colleague at the station if they had done the sex act and left the studio “stunned”.

According to The Sun, she was spoken to about the incident but no formal action was taken, with one source describing it as “crass, inappropriate and wildly unprofessional.”

The 50-year-old presenter hosts the BBC One flagship show from Thursday to Saturday with Charlie Stayt. She also hosts a mid-morning show on BBC Radio 5 Live from Monday to Wednesday.

The Corporation’s annual pay report revealed Naga’s salary was between £355,000 and £359,000, making her the fourth highest paid woman in the BBC.

Her packet dwarfs the pay of her co-host Charlie Stayt, who takes home £190,000 a year, although the huge sum also includes her work on Radio 5.

Breakfast show editor Richard Frediani was also investigated by an external consultant after complaints about his “draconian” approach and incidents of misconduct. He has since returned to work on the show following an extended period of leave.

A source told The Sun: “Some workers backed Frediani’s tougher approach but others think he’s a bully. Similarly, some see Naga as a passionate advocate of others behind the scenes, while others find her just as difficult as Fredi.”
