Content creator George is set to take to the dancefloor tonight in the hopes of clinching the Glitterball trophy, but with hours to go – he has been hit with a big problem
George Clarke has been hit with a major problem just hours before he tries to win Strictly Come Dancing. He is just one of three contestants left in the running to win the show and take home the Glitterball trophy.
Content creator George, 26, has won over the nation with his charm and his good nature. However, to win the show, he needs to come out on top against Lioness Karen Carney and Love Island winner Amber Davies.
But ahead of the live final tonight (December 20), loveable boy George has been dealt a crushing blow. He is now hoping that he can push through together with partner Alexis Warr and become the first social media star to win the competition.
Budding dancer George has long been considered the fan favourite, as he learned how to grow from a shy and self-deprecating star to a man with confidence both on and off the dancefloor. Bookies have long agreed with the audience as he has been seen as the favourite to win the show, according to the Sun.
But while his fans have lobbed allegations of the show being “rigged” due to the Youtuber being left with difficult choreo to learn, the judges have seen potential in the youngster’s skills — despite lopping him with relatively low scores. Now, as the last male celeb standing, George was gearing up to be the favourite to win the show.
However, in a shock turn of events, bookies have switched up their opinion on George as he is no longer the favourite to win the competition. The latest odds from Ladbrokes now have him second behind Lioness Karen Carney, who holds odd of huge 4/9.
With odds of 7/4, hunky heartthrob George is statistically less likely to win the show based off betting agents, with Amber bringing up the rear at a meagre 40/1. However, George and Alexis have not spoken out on the betting odds ahead of the final, which is expected to smash audience records.
The final will see all three remaining couples perform three separate dances over the course of the evening. The first two are styles that we have already seen, but the final showdance will be a huge spectacle for each couple who aim to impress the public with their phenomenal dancing skills.
For George and Alexis, the pair are set to dance their showdance to noughties anthem “Human” by The Killers. They will then redance their fiery paso doble from Week 2 before finishing off with a Viennese Waltz to “Somebody to Love” by Queen.
George has admitted he has stunned himself and others with just how far he has come since his first dance, revealing he was not even confident enough “doing anything more than a two-step” in a nightclub. In an emotional final chat on side-show It Takes Two, George broke down as he realised how much he had grown.
Chatting with host Fleur East, George sobbed as he received a video message of his loved ones willing him on for the final. Wiping away tears, he said he was grateful for all the support he had from fans, friends and family alike.
The final of Strictly Come Dancing airs at 7pm on BBC One and the BBC iPlayer.
