The ‘Fastest Girl in Town’ songstress makes use of Instagram to announce that she’s going to return to stage for a 3-night concert run at Billy Bob’s in April.

    Feb 9, 2021
AceShowbiz – Miranda Lambert is set to return to stage to entertain her fans after putting a halt on concerts for almost a year due to the coronavirus pandemic. The country music star has revealed plans for a 3-night concert run in April.
Making use of her Instagram account, the “Mama’s Broken Heart” songstress announced on Monday, February 8 that she’s going to perform at the legendary Fort Worth, Texas, honky-tonk Billy Bob’s on April 22, 23 and 24. The gigs will be part of the venue’s epic 40th anniversary celebration.
“First concert in over a year. Texas , I can’t wait to come home,” she posted on the photo-sharing site. “Join RanFans to get presale tickets at miranda.to/billybobs.” Assuring that the concerts will be held in adherence with Covid safety measures, she added, “We’re doing this safely and right. Show will be reduced capacity and distanced with strict COVID protocols in place.”

The gigs mark Miranda’s first concerts since the COVID-19 outbreak hit the nation nearly a year ago. She was set to go on “Wildcard Tour” in support of seventh studio album “Wildcard” in 2020, but all dates were canceled due to the pandemic.
Billy Bob’s, a massive 127,000 square-foot entertainment venue which is known for its mechanical bull, reopened late last summer. While it can hold 6,000 people, the honky-tonk has been enforcing a 40% capacity of 2,500, with guests seated at tables of six to eight.
Some general admission tickets, also seated, are available on an upper level. Tickets for the Lambert concerts range from $50-$200 and will go on pre-sale on February 10, and on sale to the general public on February 12.
Billy Bob’s will kick off the celebration of its 40th anniversary on April 1, with an appearance by The Gatlin Brothers. They will be followed by two concerts on April 2 and 3 by Hank Williams Jr. Other acts set to perform at the venue include Texas band Midland (April 8-10) and Dwight Yoakam (April 15-17).

After introducing H.E.R., the cameras stayed on the host and she was given teleprompter notes to keep talking, which she didn’t understand.
“What the f**k does vamp mean?” she scolded as a voice off camera said, “Stall”.
“Now they asked me to vamp. I don’t know what vamp means. To me, vamp means be a vampire and/or vampirate like slowly disappear and/or elaborate. Maybe that’s the word they should’ve used? Elaborate. But let’s continue on guys.”
Later in the broadcast, Haddish added, “This has not been the smoothest running situation. Every time an act leaves the stage, they have to clean the whole stage, get all-new microphones, all new everything you have to keep in mind that some of these acts haven’t performed for nobody…”.
“Me personally, I’m in a studio alone, it’s cold, and I’m ready to bring the heat. But it’s cold.”

Andrew M. Cuomo of New York, who has made it clear that he sees the return of art and culture as key components of the economic revival of the state, announced Monday that a series of more than 300 free pop-up performances, “NY PopsUp,” would begin Feb. 20 and run through Labor Day.Mayor Bill de Blasio, meanwhile, announced details of the city’s Open Culture program, which will permit outdoor performances on designated city streets this spring. The state’s pop-up events are part of a public-private partnership, New York Arts Revival, and will feature more than 150 artists including Amy Schumer, Chris Rock, Mandy Patinkin, Renée Fleming and Hugh Jackman.Since the state does not wish to draw large crowds in the pandemic, many of the events will not be announced in advance.“We’re trying to thread the needle,” Mr. Cuomo said. “We want the performances. We don’t want mass gatherings, we don’t want large crowds.”The events, the state said, will take place in parks, museums and parking lots, as well as on subway platforms and in transit stations. People can follow a new Twitter and Instagram account, @NYPopsUp, for details about upcoming performances. Many will be shown online. The series will be spearheaded by the producers Scott Rudin and Jane Rosenthal, along with the New York State Council on the Arts and Empire State Development. It is part of an arts revival plan that the governor had announced during an address in January, when he had said the state would organize the pop-up performances beginning Feb. 4.The series will begin Feb. 20 at the Javits Center in New York City with a free performance for health care workers that will feature Jon Batiste, Anthony Roth Costanzo, Cecile McLorin Salvant and Ayodele Casel. The performers will travel across the city to all five boroughs, performing in parks and street corners, as well as at the footsteps of Elmhurst Hospital and St. Barnabas Hospital.Mr. Cuomo said some of the events would use flexible venues that do not have fixed seats, and could therefore be reconfigured to allow for social distancing, including the Shed, the Apollo Theater, Harlem Stage, La MaMa and the Glimmerglass Festival’s Alice Busch Opera Theater. In June, the opening of Little Island, the parklike pier being built downtown in the Hudson River by Barry Diller, and the Tribeca Film Festival, celebrating its 20th anniversary, will add to the expanding arts programming in the city.Little Island plans to hold its own festival from Aug. 11 to Sept. 5, which will coincide with the final weeks of “NY PopsUp” programming.Mr. de Blasio announced on Monday that the city would launch a new program to help some of the city’s cultural institutions apply for federal grants. The city’s effort, called “Curtains Up NYC,” will offer webinars and counseling to businesses and nonprofits that are connected in some way to live performances.“We have to make sure that New York City cultural institutions get the help that they need,” Mr. de Blasio said at a news conference.Asked whether any Broadway theaters could be allowed to reopen as his arts revival plans continue, Mr. Cuomo expressed hope.“I think that is where we are headed, right?” he said. “The overall effort is headed towards reopening with testing.”He announced last week that the state planned to issue guidance to begin allowing wedding ceremonies for up to 150 guests if attendees were tested beforehand.“Would I go see a play and sit in a playhouse with 150 people?” he said. “If the 150 people were tested and they were all negative, yes, I would do that. And the social distancing and the air ventilation system is proper? Yes, I would do that.”Commercial producers have repeatedly said that economics of Broadway preclude reopening at less than full capacity.New York reported at least 177 new coronavirus deaths and 9,923 new cases on Sunday. While the number of new cases has fallen from a post-holiday high last month, the average number of new daily cases and deaths is still far above where it was last summer and fall.Mr. Cuomo said that government had to take an active role to help the city and the state recover from the economic pain wrought by the pandemic. “It’s not going to be a situation where the economy is just going to come back,” he said. “We have to make it come back.”“New York leads,” he added. “And we’re going to lead in bringing back the arts.”Michael Gold contributed reporting.AdvertisementContinue reading the main story More

Amid Industry Rebukes, Morgan Wallen’s Album Stays No. 1

AdvertisementContinue reading the main storySupported byContinue reading the main storyThe ChartsAmid Industry Rebukes, Morgan Wallen’s Album Stays No. 1An online video showing Wallen using a racial slur led to his fall from grace last week, but “Dangerous” became the top-selling album for a fourth time.Radio stations and streaming platforms removed Morgan Wallen’s music from playlists; his label suspended his contract; and he has apologized. He topped the chart again.Credit…Terry Wyatt/Getty Images for CmaFeb. 8, 2021Last week, Morgan Wallen, country music’s biggest new star, quickly fell from grace after a video surfaced of him casually using a racial slur.Within a day, radio stations and streaming platforms removed his music from playlists and his record label decided to “suspend” his contract. Instantly, he became the focal point of an industrywide debate about the long and complex history of racial inequity in Nashville, country music’s power center. Even though some defended him — his sister, Ashlyne, condemned his words but portrayed her brother as a victim of “cancel culture” — Wallen’s time as a chart-topping crossover hero, it would seem, was over. But on Monday, Wallen’s breakthrough second LP, “Dangerous: The Double Album,” notched its fourth week at No. 1 with the equivalent of 149,000 sales in the United States, up almost 15 percent from the week before, according to MRC Data, Billboard’s tracking arm. In every measurement, the numbers for “Dangerous” grew from the previous week. It had 160 million streams, up from 154 million; sold 25,000 copies as a complete package, more than double its previous take; and had 67 percent more downloads of individual tracks.Timing likely played a part in that growth. Billboard’s weekly tracking period goes from Friday to Thursday, so by the time Wallen’s video was published late Tuesday by TMZ, the accounting week was nearly over. But even well after that point, “Dangerous” and its songs were still holding strong on Apple’s iTunes charts, a sign that a large contingent of fans was standing by him.Even under this cloud, “Dangerous” is the first country title to hold its first four weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, the magazine’s flagship album chart, in 18 years; the last to do so was Shania Twain’s “Up!,” which spent its first five weeks in the top spot in late 2002 and early 2003.Where Wallen goes from here is unclear. His label and management company, Big Loud, has not clarified what it means to suspend a contract — a step that some industry figures have already criticized as an empty gesture. But whether the company can unilaterally cancel his deal may depend on the terms of Wallen’s contract. In a statement to TMZ last week, Wallen apologized, saying, “there are no excuses to use this type of language, ever,” and has not since commented. Also on this week’s chart, Lil Durk’s “The Voice” is No. 2, Pop Smoke’s “Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon” is No. 3, the Weeknd’s “After Hours” is in fourth place and Juice WRLD’s “Legends Never Die” is No. 5.AdvertisementContinue reading the main story More

Artist of the Week: DJ Tiesto

The Dutch DJ and producer dances his way to the top of the charts with his infectious party anthem ‘The Business’ which has spawned a collaboration with Ty Dolla $ign.

    Feb 8, 2021
AceShowbiz – DJ Tiesto is back atop the charts with his new brilliant single “The Business”. With over 2.9 million U.S. streams in the tracking week and 204 million streams since its September release, the dance banger has propelled him to the summit on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales.
The party anthem was accompanied by an equally arresting music video. It featured viral comedian Casey Frey as he busted a move as a zombie while strolling through an empty hospital hall and a crowded diner before hopping on a bus and infecting the people to bob along to the catchy music.
Ty Dolla $ign was among those captivated by the infectious track. The “Free TC” rapper jumped on the “Part II” of the song and added his own flair to the revamp. “Ty’s smooth R&B vocals really takes this track to the next level,” so the Dutch DJ and producer gushed after the upgraded version came out.

The hip-hop star also raved about their collaboration. “We got one! Thankful for being a part of this legendary moment,” he exclaimed. “Always been a fan of Tiesto.”
In an interview with GQ magazine, Tiesto explained why he continued to make upbeat songs amid the doom and gloom of pandemic, “I think everybody wants to get down to business in the current times, not just with COVID, but in general. I think everybody always wants to go back to work or get ready for their event or for something special to happen that day.”
The dancey track has since topped music charts in various countries including Tiesto’s native country of Netherlands. In the Billboard mainstream chart of Hot 100, it’s climbing up to top 20. If the last few weeks are any indication, it is expected to continue to ascend the chart.
