Netflix Will Not Add Fiction Disclaimer to 'The Crown'

    Netflix/Des Willie

The decision is made public in a statement in response to Culture secretary Oliver Dowden’s request for the streaming giant to add a disclaimer that the series is a work of fiction.

    Dec 7, 2020
AceShowbiz – Amid controversy surrounding “The Crown” as many people in the U.K. slam the fourth season of the show over its depiction of the royal family, Netflix has revealed that it will not add fiction disclaimer to the series. The decision was made public in a statement to Deadline in response to Culture secretary Oliver Dowden’s request to add one.
“We have always presented ‘The Crown’ as a drama — and we have every confidence our members understand it’s a work of fiction that’s broadly based on historical events,” the streamer said in a statement to Deadline. “As a result we have no plans — and see no need — to add a disclaimer.”

Last week, Dowden urged the streaming giant to give a separate note to make it clear to the viewers that the show is nothing but work of fiction. He dished to The Mail on Sunday, “It’s a beautifully produced work of fiction, so as with other TV productions, Netflix should be very clear at the beginning it is just that. Without this, I fear a generation of viewers who did not live through these events may mistake fiction for fact.”
Among those who criticize the new season of TV series was Earl Spencer, brother of late lady Diana. “I think it would help ‘The Crown’ an enormous amount if, at the beginning of each episode, it stated that, ‘This isn’t true but it is based around some real events,’ ” he told ITV. “I worry people do think that this is gospel and that’s unfair.”
Cast member Helena Bonham Carter, who takes the role of Princess Margaret, agreed that it’s important to make a distinction between “our version” and the “real version.” She said, “It is dramatised. I do feel very strongly, because I think we have a moral responsibility to say, ‘Hang on guys, this is not… it’s not a drama-doc, we’re making a drama.’ So they are two different entities.”

Jason Bateman Takes a Jab at Past Chimpanzee Attack During 'Saturday Night Live' Return

    WENN/Adriana M. Barraza

When delivering his monologue for the December 5 episode, the ‘Ozark’ actor looks back at the scary moment he almost lost his nose to the ape co-star 15 years ago.

    Dec 7, 2020
AceShowbiz – Jason Bateman relived a dangerous moment as he returned to host “Saturday Night Live” at the weekend, revealing he almost lost his nose to a chimpanzee.
The “Ozark” star last fronted the U.S. TV sketch show 15 years ago and recalled a nasty moment with an ape co-star.
During his monologue on Saturday, December 5, Jason explained the chimp tried to bite his face during the end credits – and showed the clip of the near-attack as the SNL regulars at the time watched in horror, but did nothing.

“If that show did that sketch today, they would use a puppet or a kid in a fuzzy suit for safety, but back then, they used a real male adult chimpanzee. This was 2005 — things were loose,” he said. “Things were so loose that at the end of the show, the monkey was allowed to take a bow with us up here. We’re all hugging, we’re saying good night, the credits are rolling, and then the monkey tried to kill me.”
“I’m a nice fella — but not the chimp. The chimp unhinges his jaw, he flashes the teeth, and he tries to bite my entire nose off. … They hate that humans have faces and they want to remove them,” Jason jokingly recalled, before sharing the footage from the 2005 episode.
“I am smiling but inside I’m thinking a monkey just attacked me and nobody cares. They’re just hugging.”
Bateman then joked that he and the chimp made up backstage before he had the creature destroyed.

Morgan Wallen Pokes Fun at Getting Fired From 'SNL' for Violating COVID-19 Rules

    NBC

The country singer, who was previously kicked off of the show for breaking COVID-19 protocols by partying, appears in one sketch in which he makes fun of his own firing.

    Dec 7, 2020
AceShowbiz – Morgan Wallen finally made his debut on “Saturday Night Live” in the December 5 episode of the hit NBC show. Prior to playing his set, the musician, who was previously kicked off of the show for breaking COVID-19 protocols by partying back in October, appeared in one sketch in which he made fun of his own firing.
The set saw Morgan attending the said party in Alabama. He was later seen making out with a random woman, played by Chloe Fineman, whom he met at the bash. The fun, however, was cut short when a future version of himself, played by host Jason Bateman, appeared in front of him with a warning.
“Once people hear about this party, you’re in big trouble, man,” Jason’s future Morgan said, adding, “You’re going to get kicked off ‘Saturday Night Live’.” Referring to “SNL” producer Lorne Michaels, Morgan ignored the warning and replied, “Lorne would never do that.” Still, the future Wallen tried to convince him, “But the execs at NBC, they’re going to force his hand.”
Jason’s future Morgan, however, soon fell into the temptation by attractive women and alcohol. Later, Bowen Yang arrived, playing a Wallen from even farther in the future. But then Wallen was told that he shouldn’t worry too much. “They’re going to have you on two months later, I promise,” Jason’s future-Morgan revealed. “There aren’t many people willing to fly to New York right now.”

After being unplugged from the show, Morgan issued a public apology for his actions, admitting they were “pretty short-sighted,” and promised to do better in future. “I know that I got young kids that look up to me,” he said. “I need to be mindful of things (I do) – I’m not gonna let people control the way I live my life, (but) I do also want to be mindful,” the country singer said on “Bobbycast” podcast.
“And honestly, having a son, obviously now I don’t know that I’d be proud to show him those videos,” he continued, referring to his three-month-old boy Indigo, with his ex-fiancee KT Smith. “I gotta think about some things a little bit differently.”

Mark Hamill, Don Cheadle, Bryan Cranston and More Join 'Veep' Table Read

    WENN

The virtual ‘Veep’ table read is a star-studded affair with a lot of famous guests like Stephen Colbert, Patton Oswalt, and Kumail Nanjiani joining the original cast.

    Dec 6, 2020
AceShowbiz – Mark Hamill, Don Cheadle, and Bryan Cranston will be stepping into the political forum on Sunday (06Dec20) to join Julia Louis-Dreyfus and the reunited cast of “Veep” for a virtual table read.
The comedienne is reprising her role as feisty and foul-mouthed U.S. Vice President Selena Meyer for the event, during which she and her co-stars will revisit the uncut version of the season five episode “Mother”.
It originally aired in 2016 and featured protesters demanding a recount in a fictional presidential race, as others called for the recount to be stopped – ironically echoing the actions of some Donald Trump supporters following his November election loss to President-elect Joe Biden.
The table read is being held to benefit the organisation America Votes, through which activists are aiming to increase political awareness and voter turnout for the upcoming Senate run-off election in Georgia.
In addition to Louis-Dreyfus and her castmates Anna Chlumsky, Tony Hale, Reid Scott, and Timothy Simons, the online gathering will also feature a number of special guests.
Making the announcement on “Good Morning America” on Friday, Louis-Dreyfus said, “We’ve got a few people come in to help read the various roles: Stephen Colbert, Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, Mark Hamill, Beanie Feldstein, Don Cheadle, and Paul Scheer are all very kindly coming to help us out and have a good laugh.”

And Louis-Dreyfus will have the chance to reconnect with an old Seinfeld pal, too, as Cranston was later added to the line-up. “I’m supporting Julia and the cause and so I will be reading on Sunday, as well,” the “Breaking Bad” star shared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”.
As for the potential for a full “Veep” reunion for another season or TV special, Louis-Dreyfus admits she would be game.
“I don’t rule out the idea of maybe getting back together to do some version of Veep down the line, it might be fun to revisit,” she shared.
“We left a little opening in the story to do that. We all love each other so much, so it would be a lot of joy to pull that one off, if we could.”
The political satire ended in 2019 after seven seasons.

'RHOP': Candiace Dillard and Monique Samuels Set to Meet for the First Time in Season 5 Reunion

    Bravo

The cast members, inlcuding Gizelle Bryant, Karen Huger, Ashley Darby, Robyn Dixon and Dr. Wendy Osefo, will also try to end their unresolved issues in addition to confronting each other.

    Dec 5, 2020
AceShowbiz – The reunion special for “The Real Housewives of Potomac” season 5 seemingly will be dramatic. In a sneak peek clip for the three-part special, cast members Candiace Dillard and Monique Samuels are seen meeting each other for the first time following their brutal fight earlier in the season.
In the clip, Andy Cohen returns as the host of the special episode in which the Housewives will discuss everything that is happening throughout the season. The cast members, inlcuding Gizelle Bryant, Karen Huger, Ashley Darby, Robyn Dixon and Dr. Wendy Osefo, will also try to end their unresolved issues in addition to confronting each other.
The meeting between Candiace and Monique will come nearly 12 months after the brawl took place. Prior to this, Monique revealed that she went to “many therapy sessions” after the physical altercation. “I usually will counsel with my pastor or my godfather…but this time I wanted to take it a step further. I said, ‘I want to find someone who doesn’t know me, who’s going to be completely unbiased…to just, like, really dig deep and help me figure out what caused me to get to that point.’ ”

She went on to say that her aggresive behavior at that moment had something to do with her childhood trauma. “I actually learned I had some childhood triggers that I did not realize I developed over the years and that were harboring within me for a very long time,” she admitted.
Meanwhile, Candiace said that she was upset when she saw footage of the fight played on the screen for the first time. “It was awful to watch. My heart was palpitating, I was angry all over again. I was frustrated. I was sad. I was embarrassed. I was every emotion — it’s still awful to see it playing in perpetuity on the internet,” she claimed.
The first part of season 5 reunion will air on Sunday, December 13. Meanwhile, part 2 and the third and final part of the special episode will broadcast on December 20 and December 27 respectively. Prior to that, the finale is set to premiere on December 6 at 9 P.M. on Bravo.

The couple’s exit arrived six months after Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute were fired from the show over racism against Faith Stowers. Faith previously also called for Jax’s firing, claiming that he “said very, very mean things to new cast members. He did not receive me and Lala Kent very well when we first started.”
“He said very mean things to us as well, later on apologizing. But it seems like he continues to get away with everything he does and I’m not sure why, especially at his age.
