'RHOC' Star Elizabeth Lyn Vargas Gets Candid About Being 'Beaten' by Religious Cult Family

    Instagram

In a new episode of ‘The Real Housewives if Orange County, the newly-added cast member reveals that she ‘grew up in complete fear, anxiety, anguish’ in a ‘in a religious f***ing cult.’

    Dec 24, 2020
AceShowbiz – “The Real Housewives of Orange County” is opening up about her rough childhood. In the Wednesday, December 23 episode of the Bravo reality TV show, the newly-added cast member shared about her background while hiking with co-star Braunwyn Windham-Burke.
“I was raised in a very, very religious situation, where I was told to absolutely not open my mouth, or tell the truth about what was happening, and I have a very, very hard issue with stopping the compartmentalization because I grew up in this horrible situation,” she told Braunwyn. “It’s why I don’t let people get to know me — I throw big parties, but no one really knows me.”
Braunwind responded, “I’ve been to those parties and none of those people are your friends.” To that, Elizabeth said, “I know, and I don’t want to live that way anymore.”
Elizabeth admitted that she needed help, though she didn’t know how to get it. “I’m not going to tell the girls, ‘Oh by the way, I was in a religious f***ing cult growing up that told me to shut my f***ing mouth or I’d be thrown under a bridge,’ ” she explained. “I really can’t talk about this. This is bothering me a lot,” she added while crying.

Elizabeth started to struggle to catch her breath, prompting Braunwyn to help her sit down. “You’re having a panic attack.”
In her confessional, Elizabeth revealed that she “grew up in complete fear, anxiety, anguish.” She went on recalling, “It was very, very hard for me. I was always scared for my life because we were beaten so bad that I thought for sure I was going to die one day of it.”
“My grandmother was the leader of the church and my father was the preacher and my family really wanted me to be a preacher,” she continued. “When I was 8 years old, my grandmother asked me to speak in tongues in front of the church and she says, ‘The Lord needs to speak through Elizabeth.’ And I just faked it and they all bought it — in fact, even a member passed out.”
“That was the exact day when I realized adults were full of s**t and that I could lie to get my way. I couldn’t stand what [the church] did,” she added.
Meanwhile, Braunwyn shared that she was confused about the whole thing. “I have no idea what she’s talking about,” she claimed in a confessional. “But if I can get her to open up and all these things that she’s been bottling up are going to come out, she’s going to feel so much lighter and she’s going to be able to breathe.”

Kim Cattrall on Stepping Away From 'Sex and the City': You Don't Want to Become That Caged Bird

    Warner Bros. Pictures

Amid rumors of a reboot with her three original co-stars, the actress famous as Samantha Jones in the hit series deems herself lucky to have had a choice to leave the franchise.

    Dec 24, 2020
AceShowbiz – Actress Kim Cattrall considers herself “lucky” to step away from the “Sex and the City” franchise amid rumors of a reboot with her three original co-stars.
Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis are said to be working on a “limited series reboot” for U.S. streaming service HBO Max, but Cattrall won’t be a part of the TV revamp, and she has no problem leaving her role as sex-crazed PR guru Samantha Jones in her past.
Cattrall has previously made it clear she has no interest in reprising her character, a decision which led to plans for a third “Sex and the City” movie to be ditched last year, and she has now reiterated her stance on the show.
In an interview on the “Women’s Prize for Fiction” podcast on Wednesday, December 23, Cattrall said of the original run of the hit drama series, “It was a lot of fun and I loved it and being in new territory is always exciting. I felt like we were.”
“Walking away, even if it’s the only thing to do, you always feel, it’s a bit of shame, I think. The taste of shame and you have to let go of that. You don’t want to become that caged bird (sic).”

The actress recalled some of the harsh backlash she received from “Sex and the City” fans when she refused to sign on for another movie sequel, but she is glad she can afford to opt out of projects which simply do not appeal to her.
“I’m lucky enough to have the choice, not that I haven’t worked for it. I have,” Cattrall continued. “It’s something I feel very lucky to have and I’m very protective of it. I wouldn’t be any good doing something that I really didn’t want to do.”

Now Cattrall wants to focus her screen career on more specific projects, “I want to use my platform to tell stories about women my age who have gone through loss. Loss is the biggest headache for my 60s so far, I’ve lost my father. I’ve lost my brother,” she shared of her family heartaches.
Family patriarch Dennis died in 2012, while Kim’s brother, Christopher Cattrall, passed away in 2018.

    Dec 24, 2020
AceShowbiz – Simon Cowell is back in action after spending months recovering from back surgery – he has signed on to judge the Israeli version of “The X Factor”.
The music mogul, who pulled out of his TV talent shows in the U.K. and U.S. earlier this year after suffering severe injuries in an electric bike accident, will be one of the judges on the fourth season of “The X Factor” in Israel, which has just begun production.
It will mark the first time Simon will judge a show he created outside the U.K. and U.S.
“Over the years, The X Factor format discovered amazing talents from all over the world, I can’t wait to see what Israel have to offer (sic),” he says in a statement.

The previous judges on The X Factor Israel, which is hosted by supermodel Bar Refaeli, have included rapper Subliminal and singers Ivri Lider and Shiri Maimon.
The TV star was injured in the life-threatening accident in August this year. He broke his back in three places – and came within about an inch of severing his spinal cord and facing possible paralysis – while test-riding his new high-powered e-bike with his young son.
He rested at his Malibu, California home alongside girlfriend Lauren Silverman and the little boy during his recovery. He reportedly underwent daily physiotherapy sessions.

Dan Levy Thought He Got 'Punk'd' When He's Announced Big Winner at 2020 Emmys

    Instagram

The Canadian actor recalls his reaction to his record-breaking victories at the first-ever virtual Primetime Emmy Awards earlier this year for his role on ‘Schitt’s Creek’.

    Dec 24, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Schitt’s Creek” co-creator and star Dan Levy was convinced the show’s Emmy Awards success was all part of an elaborate prank because the whole virtual ceremony felt so “surreal.”
The sixth and final season of the comedy scooped nine top accolades at the 2020 event, with the star making history as the first person to win for comedy writing, directing, acting, and producing in the same year.
However, Levy insists to everyone involved in the programme, the prizes were “like a dream” as they all watched the ceremony unfold in an outdoor tent in Toronto, Canada, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He told The Guardian newspaper, “The whole situation was surreal. For the Emmys, we were in a tent in Toronto. It really did feel like this kind of surreal dream. You’re watching a screen in a tent and suddenly you’re winning, and then you’re talking to a camera in a tent.”
“You don’t see an audience, there’s absolutely no sense of it being an award ceremony. At the end I was talking to (co-star) Catherine O’Hara, and she was like, ‘I just feel like someone’s going to pop out of the bushes and say this is an episode of Punk’d.’ It really felt like one of those setups, like, ‘Let’s put them all in a tent and fake a bunch of Emmys.’ ”
Besides breaking record for taking multiple coveted awards at the Primetime Emmys, Dan Levy also won Best Comedic Performance at the MTV Movie & TV Awards for his role on the critically-lauded TV series.

America Ferrera Upset by 'Superstore' Cancellation

    NBC

The former ‘Ugly Betty’ actress has been left ‘totally heartbroken’ as her TV show is not picked up for another season while the current sixth outing is coming to an end.

    Dec 24, 2020
AceShowbiz – America Ferrera was “totally heartbroken” by the news her TV show “Superstore” is to end.
The 36-year-old actress wrapped filming on the sitcom shortly before NBC announced this month that the show’s current sixth season will be its last and though she’s upset by its ending, she’s also “incredibly proud” of the programme.
She told People magazine, “I’m so sad the show is over, and at the same time, incredibly proud of what it’s been.”
“I think what the show accomplished, the fan-base that it built, what it did for NBC – I only have so much pride in what we accomplished with the show, and it’s always sad to say goodbye.”
And America insisted the end of the show doesn’t mean it will be forgotten.
She added, “These days TV lives forever and there’s still an audience for it to reach and still people to find and discover and enjoy it, so I’m just incredibly grateful for what it has been.”

      See also…

“(I hope it is remembered as) this really bold and subversive comedy that was always doing so much more than what appeared on the surface, being smart and funny about the life of retail workers.”
The actress stayed coy when asked if she’ll be making a final experience.
She teased, “We’re not ruling anything out, but I’m not allowed to say.”
Meanwhile, the former “Ugly Betty” star is looking forward to a “super simple” Christmas with her husband Ryan Williams and their children Sebastian, two, and Lucia, seven months.
She said, “This is (Lucia’s) first Christmas, which she’ll never remember, but it’s my two year old’s first Christmas really getting excited and having an understanding about the holidays and celebrating.”
“Luckily, he doesn’t know what he’s missing from any other year, but we’re going do our best to just celebrate and make it feel special even though we can’t be with all of our family and friends.”

'Sex and the City' Getting a Reboot Without Kim Cattrall

    New Line Cinema

A new adaptation of Candace Bushnell’s book of the same name is reportedly in development without one of the original cast members as the project is heading to the HBO streaming service.

    Dec 24, 2020
AceShowbiz – A “Sex and the City” reboot, featuring original stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon, is reportedly in the works at HBO Max.
The New York Post’s gossip column Page Six cited a “well placed industry insider” as telling them that a “limited series reboot” is coming to the streaming service.
While Sarah, Kristin, and Cynthia are all said to be returning, Kim Cattrall – who has repeatedly said she’s got no interest in reprising her role as Samantha Jones for a reboot – will apparently not. Cattrall and Parker were also involved in a public feud following the death of the former’s brother in 2018.

      See also…

Despite Kim’s disinterest in a reboot, Sarah – who also acted as a producer on the series – told Entertainment Tonight previously that she’d be up for returning as alter ego Carrie Bradshaw.
“I wouldn’t call it a reboot, I would call it a ‘revisit,’ ” she said. “I’d like to see where all of them are. I’m curious, the world has changed even since the movie… technology and social media. (Plus) sexual politics and the #MeToo movement and Time’s Up… I think Carrie Bradshaw would just be so greedy to share her feelings and thoughts.”
Representatives for Parker and HBO Max have yet to comment on the reboot report.
The original “Sex and the City” series first launched in 1998 and concluded in 2004 after six seasons. It got a movie version in 2008 and a sequel in 2013. In the same year, a prequel series “The Carrie Diaries” starring AnnaSophia Robb as a young Bradshaw came out. It ended after only two seasons.
