    HBO

‘Riverdale’ and ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’ creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is reportedly tapped to direct the reboot of HBO’s hit series, which ran for seven seasons on the network.

    Dec 10, 2020
AceShowbiz – Bon Temps is seemingly heading back to HBO. According to a new report, HBO is developing new version of its series “True Blood”. “Riverdale” and “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is reportedly tapped to direct the new project, which is allegedly in early stages. TVLine is the first one to report the reboot.
Meanwhile, “NOS4A2” creator Jami O’Brien is set to write the pilot. Additionally, the report claims that Alan Ball, the creator of the original series, will return. Ball is allegedly on board as an executive producer alongside O’Brien.
Should the report be true, this will not be the first time for Aguirre-Sacara to work with O’Brien. The two also worked on the HBO series “Big Love” back in 2011. HBO, however, declines to comment on the matter.

Taraji P. Henson to Normalize Mental Health Conversation in Black Community Through 'Peace of Mind'

    WENN/Avalon

When talking about her new Facebook Watch series on ‘The View’, the ‘Hidden Figures’ actress claims that she and co-host Tracie Jade Jenkins are hoping to pick up a few tips for themselves as well.

    Dec 10, 2020
AceShowbiz – Actress Taraji P. Henson wants to use her new Facebook Watch series about mental health to show people what therapy is all about.
The “Hidden Figures” star is launching “Peace of Mind with Taraji” on Monday (December 14), when she and her best friend, Tracie Jade Jenkins, will welcome a series of guests to discuss issues prevalent in the black community – and how to process them.
“I just want people to see themselves in this whole mental health discussion,” she explained on America’s “The View”.
“What I really want to do is normalise this conversation, take the stigma out of mental illness, or mental health, because we really don’t talk about it in the black community.”
“We’ve always been told to pray your problems away, talk to your pastor, be strong, push through, and that’s just not healthy,” Taraji shared.

“And so, on the show, I want people to see that just because we’re celebrities doesn’t mean we don’t have problems; money doesn’t make your problems go away. So we have celebrities come on who identify with different mental issues, and then we have civilians, regular people, come on who are dealing with the same thing, and then you have a therapist… to give us tools, tools to deal with whatever the topic is of the show.”

And Taraji and Tracie won’t just be serving as co-hosts – they are also hoping to pick up a few tips for themselves: “I have my issues as well…,” the actress said, “so we’re there, just like the audience members, to learn.”
One of their celebrity guests was Gabrielle Union, who opened up about dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) relating to her harrowing rape experience during her youth.
Taraji, a longtime mental health advocate, told “The View”, “I think when people think about PTSD, they think about veterans, but PTSD, I actually experience it every time I scroll on Instagram and see a black name attached to a hashtag, who’s just been murdered, unarmed, hands up in the air (sic). That’s PTSD for me, so we’re really trying to educate people on the terms, (and) because we don’t talk about it, we really don’t know we’re experiencing some of these.”

'The View' Blasts 'Entitled Brat' Olivia Jade Following 'Red Table Talk' Interview

    ABC/Instagram

While Whoopi Goldberg opts to not give harsh comments, her co-host Ana Navarro doesn’t mince her words by calling out the YouTube personality over her parents’, Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli, involvement in college admission bribe.

    Dec 10, 2020
AceShowbiz – Despite Olivia Jade Giannulli’s’ public apology over college admission bribe, “The View” co-hosts didn’t seem to be soften towards the daughter of Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli. In the December 8 episode of the talk show, the ladies of “The View” dragged Olivia following her appearance on Jada Pinkett Smith’s “Red Table Talk”.
Of the interview, co-host Sunny Hostin, whose two children are both student athletes, said, “I don’t think she went far enough, but I do put most of the blame on her parents.” She went on adding, “They should have taught her better. It’s been very difficult for me to understand. Because while my children have grown up with a certain amount of wealth, as I did not, we made sure to teach them that cheating is never appropriate.”
“For many Black children, being an athlete is one of the only entrances into college,” Sunny explained. Referring to Lori and her husband’s attempt to fraudulently admit Olivia and her sister Isabella Gianulli to USC as part of the crew team, she continued, “And for Olivia Jade to try to take one of those legitimate spots from another athlete I just think is deplorable. And she didn’t address that.”
Sara Haines agreed that it might take a while for people to accept Olivia’s apology. “It was a step she had to take, but she’s got about 99 more before she’s earning respect back, and I think her actions will speak louder than her words,” she opined. “I’ll give her a minute. But I don’t buy her ‘I grew up in a bubble’ excuse. She’s 20 years old; I expect more from my four-year-old.”

While Whoopi Goldberg opted to not give harsh comments, co-host Ana Navarro didn’t mince her words by calling out the YouTube personality. “I really have no interest in talking about this entitled brat and her enabling parents,” she said. “I don’t really have the bandwidth to give a hoot about Olivia Jade wanting her platform back.”

Olivia addressed her parents Lori and Mossimo Giannulli’s involvement in the college bribery scandal in the Tuesday episode of Jada, Willow Smith and Adrienne Banfield-Norris’ Facebook Watch show “Red Table Talk”. “There is no justifying or excusing what happened because what happened was wrong,” the social media personality admitted. “And I think every single person in my family can be like, that was messed up. That was a big mistake.”
“I think for anybody, no matter what the situation is, you don’t want to see your parents go to prison, but also I think it’s necessary for us to move on and move forward,” she went on saying.

Mariah Carey's Christmas TV Special Cost $5.2 Million to Produce

    Instagram

Rumor has it, the ‘All I Want to Christmas Is You’ hitmaker has spent more than $5 million to produce her newly-released star-studded festive television special.

    Dec 10, 2020
AceShowbiz – Mariah Carey reportedly spent $5.2 million (£4 million) on her Apple TV+ Christmas special.
The chart-topping singer is said to have spent an eye-watering amount of money on the star-studded special, which features appearances from the likes of Ariana Grande and Snoop Dogg.
“Mariah wanted her Apple TV special to blow everything else out of the water,” a source told Britain’s The Sun newspaper. “And it did just that – not only in the reviews and ratings but in the budget. Overall it cost £4 million to make, with cash being spent on securing the big names.”

Mariah was determined not to cut any corners with her special and was therefore willing to commit a huge amount of money to ensure it was as she’d hoped it would be.
“Mariah does nothing by half and the special was created with huge production values,” the insider continued. “Her styling alone, including hair and make-up, cost more than $165,000 (£125,000), let alone the other $26,000 (£20,000) that she racked up in expenses and costs. But everyone who knows Mariah knows she’s worth every penny.”
The special was released earlier this month (Dec20) and has already reached number one in the Apple TV+ Charts in 100 countries around the world.
Jennifer Hudson, Jermaine Dupri, Ballet dancer Misty Copeland, comedian Billy Eichner, and “Mixed-ish” child star Mykal-Michelle Harris also made appearances along with Marey’s nine-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe. Meanwhile, Tiffany Haddish narrated the trailer.

'Clarice' First Trailer Offers Flashback to Haunting Moment From 'Silence of the Lambs'

    CBS

In the 48-second long trailer for ‘The Silence of the Lambs’ TV sequel, Rebecca Breeds, who plays Clarice on the show, appears to be haunted by someone from the 1991 movie.

    Dec 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – CBS has revealed the first trailer for “Clarice”, a TV sequel to “The Silence of the Lambs”. Arriving on Tuesday, December 8, the trailer hints that Clarice Starling (Rebecca Breeds) is still being haunted by the death of serial killer Buffalo Bill, who was played by Ted Levine in the 1991 movie.
The 48-second long video opens with requisite sad music while images of forests, rivers, sewer tunnels and other places flicker on the screen. Later, an image of Bill, who was shot to death by Clarice (Jodie Foster) in the movie, is glimpsed.
    [embedded content]
While the trailer shows Bill, it doesn’t give any sign of presence of Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins in the film). He is the serial killer who helped Clarice catch Buffalo Bill, but he managed to escape himself.

“Clarice” is set in 1993, six months after the events of “The Silence of the Lambs”. The new series will feature “a deep dive into the untold personal story of FBI Agent Clarice Starling as she returns to the field to pursue serial murderers and sexual predators while navigating the high stakes political world of Washington, D.C.”
Breeds’ Clarice is described as someone who is brilliant and vulnerable. Graduating Magna Cum Laude from UVA with a double major in Psych and Criminology, she draws monster and madmen to her with her bravery. Her challenging childhood leads her to her complex psychological makeup, while her drive comes from her desire to escape the burden of haunting family secrets.
Alex Kurtzman (“Star Trek: Discovery”) and his frequent collaborator Jenny Lumet wrote and executive produce the series. In addition to Breeds, “Clarice” will star Kal Penn (“Designated Survivor”), Michael Cudlitz (“The Walking Dead”), Nick Sandow (“Orange Is the New Black”), Lucca De Oliveira (“SEAL Team”) and Marnee Carpenter (“Criminal Minds”) among others.
“Clarice” is scheduled to premiere on February 11, 2021 on CBS.

Joy Behar Thinks 'The Crown' Needs to Be 'Responsible' by Adding Disclaimer

    WENN/Netflix/Joseph Marzullo

In other news, the streaming giant admits that it made up Princess Diana (Emma Corrin)’s singing scene in one of the episodes of the show to add dramatic touch.

    Dec 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – The ladies of “The View” discussed the controversy surrounding Netflix’s royal family drama “The Crown”, which received huge backlash over its depiction of Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s tumultuous marriage in season 4. While Netflix previously insisted that it didn’t need a fiction disclaimer, co-host Joy Behar thought that it was necessary.
Alluding that it was the streaming giant’s responsibility to make it clear that “The Crown” is a work of fiction, Joy said, “They should be more responsible, frankly, because these people are still alive.” She went on saying, “You have to be careful.”
In response to Whoopi Goldberg who thought a disclaimer wasn’t needed because “The Crown” is not a documentary, Joy reasoned, “It is a very good idea to at least inform the public that this is not an alternative fact show. Alright? Because it’s enough that we’ve had alternative facts for the past four years.”

She went on noting that Prince Charles and Camilla “are getting all these hate messages on Twitter” from the viewers. “He’s going to be the next king. He is. She’s going to die at some point, right?” she added, “In this kind of thing, there are a lot of people who think it’s a documentary.” Sarah Haines echoed the sentiment, saying, “It doesn’t hurt the work at all or the creative process to just slap a disclaimer to make sure there’s no confusion that this is a work of fiction.”
Netflix, meanwhile, previously revealed in a statement that it didn’t have plan to add a disclaimer on the series. “We have always presented ‘The Crown’ as a drama — and we have every confidence our members understand it’s a work of fiction that’s broadly based on historical events,” the streamer said in a statement. “As a result we have no plans — and see no need — to add a disclaimer.”
In other news, Netflix admitted that it made up Princess Diana’s singing scene on the series. In an episode, the late royal family member, who is played by Emma Corrin, was seen singing “All I Ask of You” from “Phantom of the Opera” with an orchestra on a West End stage as a wedding anniversary present for Prince Charles (Josh O’Connor).
Jessica Hobbs, who directed the episode, shared in a podcast that while the real Lady Diana did perform a dance routine to the number from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical for their seventh wedding anniversary, she didn’t sing. She decided to add the singing scene to add dramatic touch after hearing Emma’s voice which made her think that it would “break viewers’ hearts.”
