Tapped to star as trailblazer Victoria Woodhull, the former ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ star gushes that she has ‘been enthralled and deeply invested in bringing her life story to the screen.’
Dec 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – Katherine Heigl has signed on to play Victoria Woodhull, the first woman to run for U.S. president, in a new series.
Heigl will lead the cast of “Woodhull” and executive produce. The project will be based on multiple biographies, according to Deadline.
The then-34 year old became the first woman to run for president as the leader of the Equal Rights Party in 1872. Her running mate was abolitionist leader Frederick Douglas.
The feminist icon was the first woman to address the U.S. Congress and, alongside her sister, became the first woman to operate a brokerage firm on Wall Street. The sisters also founded a newspaper.

Woodhull was accused of blackmail and prostitution, arrested and charged on the eve of the presidential election.
The drama and subsequent acquittal prompted U.S. leaders to pass the 1873 Comstock Laws.
“The moment I discovered the almost too-big-to-be-true story of Victoria I have been enthralled and deeply invested in bringing her life story to the screen,” Heigl said. “Victoria’s outrageous courage, determination, intelligence and hutzpah would be remarkable in our modern times but was downright revolutionary in hers.”
“Her name and her story has not been celebrated nearly enough for the trails she blazed and the paths she forged for all the women who came after her. I cannot wait to tell the story of this woman who would not be stopped in a time that forbade her to even start.”

Carson named John as the one who got the most votes. Meanwhile, Bailey and Tamara were up for the instant save. Next up were Ian Flanigan and Jim Ranger from Team Blake Shelton. Jim was announced to be among the finalists. Ian, however, had to return to the stage for instant save later.

Prior to the results announcement for Team Gwen Stefani’s Carter Rubin and Ben Allen, John Legend hit the stage to sing his single “Wild” from his Grammy-nominated album “Bigger Love”. After the stunning performance, Carter was announced to be the artist with the most votes, meaning that Ben would perform again for the instant save.
It was time for the instant save, which was kicked off with a performance by Ben. He attempted to win the instant save by singing “Pray for You” and Gwen dubbed his performance beautiful. Following it up was Cami, who performed “When the Party’s Over”. As for Bailey, she sang “Your Cheatin’ Heart” that earned her praise from John, who thought her rendition was fun.
Singing “Feeling Good” was Tamara. John raved about how “engrossing” and “engaging” her performance was, adding that “her light shines through everything.” Rounding out the instant save performance was Ian, who sang “Anymore”. Blake believed that he’s “once-in-a-lifetime voice.”
Only one of the five performers could be in next week’s finals and that was Ian! He will join Carter, Desz, Jim and John in the finale of “The Voice” season 19.

The new episode of the ABC series also sees the suitors taking a lie detector test in which Zac admits to cheating and Riley says that it’s not his real name.
Dec 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – “The Bachelorette” season 16 returned with a new episode on Tuesday, December 8. The new outing opened with what was left in the previous episode in which Tayshia Adams confronted Bennett for “questioning” her integrity. He apologized for it though he continued arguing with Noah.
It was then time for Tayshia to hand out the rose to someone and it was not Bennett. He was upset and tried to convince Tayshia that he never questioned her intergrity. Tayshia admitted she felt bad after sending Bennett home and when she saw Noah smiling over Bennett’s elimination, she told him that it wasn’t a win for him either. Taysha said that she would keep him around for the rose ceremony as she made her mind up.
That pissed Noah off and he felt more upset seeing Tayshia spending time with other men. She was seen sitting down with Brendan, who said, “I feel like me and Tayshia have a real connection. I’m going into tonight’s rose ceremony feeling really, really good.”
Rose ceremony was finally here. Tayshia decided to hand out the roses to Brendan, then Riley, Blake, Ivan and Noah.
Later, Zac was crying over the thought of Tayshia meeting his parents during the Hometown weeks. Saying that his parents were “everything,” Zac claimed while crying, “My mom and my dad are my heroes, so that makes it really real.”
As for the first one-on-one date, it was between Tayshia and Ben. They were seen riding scooters but then he took off his pants to get into a fountain. Later during the date, the two discussed the progress of their relationship. “You have to just… let it out,” Tayshia told Ben, who responded, “It’s me trying to be perfect. Maybe part of me doesn’t want to share things because I don’t want to burden you. But I trust you.”

At their romantic dinner, Tayshia revealed she was excited to meet Ben’s family. “I feel like you’re almost too perfect. You say the right thing… I feel like you want to display this perfect image of yourself,” she said. “I know you’re holding back… I feel like there’s hurt there.”
Then, Ben made a huge revelation of his dark past. Admitting that he attempted suicide twice in the past, he said, “2018 was a rough year for me. I left a career that I thought I was going to be in forever. The Army didn’t end up working out for me, for a number of reasons, but I ended up breaking my back pretty bad, and I’m 26 years old, and I can barely walk up the steps, and I was living in a city that was too expensive for me, and I was completely lost.”
“My life was very dark, and I didn’t know how to say that I needed things. I don’t know if you can relate with that, or how that can be. The only person I confided in was my sister, and I’m trying to give you the whole picture,” he added.
Tayshia assured him that things would be okay, saying, “And I’m still right here. I see you and I hear you, and that’s all I’ve been wanting. I’ve been wanting you to open up to me… you’re an amazing person.” She gave him a rose.
The two ended their date with a private concert. “Today’s date has just been perfect, and now we have this stunning private concert,” Tayshia shared in confessional. “The way Ben made me feel tonight is the way I want to feel with my future husband… I truly love Ben.”
The episode also saw them taking a lie detector test. Zac admitted to cheating and Riley said that it’s not his real name. When confronted, Zac told Tayshia that his marriage ended because of cheating, prompting her to say, “I will not date a cheater.” Riley and Ben also opened up to Tayshia and she decided to give the rose out at the rose ceremony.
Bennett, who was previously eliminated, shockingly waited for Tayshia in her suite. “Our goodbye was so bizarre, so surreal, I couldn’t even fathom what just happened. I was thinking about all these things that I wasn’t able to share with you, sometimes you don’t realize things until they’re gone. And I realized in that moment that I love you,” Bennett said. He told Tayshia that he was in love with her and she was confused.

The comedy special from ‘Black Mirror’ creator Charlie Brooker will also feature Lisa Kudrow, Tracey Ullman, Leslie Jones, Kumail Nanjiani, Cristin Milioti and ‘Stranger Things’ star Joe Keery.
Dec 8, 2020
AceShowbiz – Samuel L. Jackson, Hugh Grant, and Lisa Kudrow are among the stars to poke fun at the year that’s been in a new Netflix mockumentary created by “Black Mirror”‘s Charlie Brooker.
Grant will play a “repellent” historian. British comedian and actress Diane Morgan is also among the cast members. However, much to fans’ disappointment, she is not playing Philomena Cunk, a silly character on TV moments and topical events in Brooker’s darkly comic “Wipe” franchise.
“Death to 2020” will also feature comediennes Tracey Ullman and Leslie Jones, “Stranger Things” star Joe Keery, and actors Kumail Nanjiani and Cristin Milioti, among others, reports Deadline.

In a statement about the spoof special, producers say: “‘Death to 2020’ is a comedy event that tells the story of the dreadful year that was – and perhaps still is? This landmark documentary-style special weaves together some of the world’s most (fictitious) renowned voices with real-life archival footage spanning the past 12 months.”
They also describe it as “the cathartic comedy event you’ll never forget about the year you really, really don’t want to remember”, and quip, “Even the creators of ‘Black Mirror’ couldn’t make this s**t up.”
Brooker also serves as co-executive producer on the quirky new project, alongside Annabel Jones, his creative partner on dystopian anthology series “Black Mirror”. “Death to 2020” marks their first collaboration. Meanwhile, Alison Marlow is set to be the producer.
A release date for “Death to 2020”, directed by Al Campbell, has yet to be revealed.

in TelevisionTalking about his reaction to being offered the lead part for the TV special, the former ‘Glee’ star admits he found it ‘terrifying and thrilling and just liberating all at the same time.’
Dec 8, 2020
AceShowbiz – Actor Matthew Morrison completed filming on his new TV special “Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch Musical!” a few pounds lighter after spending so much time dancing around in his furry green costume.
The former “Glee” star takes on the titular role in the show, which was filmed at the Troubadour Theatre in London, and reveals the hours spent in the hair and makeup department and onstage in his costume and facial prosthetics actually caused him to slim down.
“I had so much fun getting into that green suit everyday, (but) I actually lost a lot of weight…,” he shared on U.S. breakfast show “Today”. “It was three-and-a-half hours to get into the makeup, an hour to take it off…”
“(But) I only had to do that about five times in total, ’cause we rehearsed this like a stage musical, like for a month (before shooting).”

Morrison admits he was initially hesitant to tackle the role Jim Carrey brought to life in 2000 movie “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”, but he couldn’t wait to exercise his creativity after spending months at home due to the coronavirus shutdown.
“(It was) terrifying, honestly,” he said of his reaction to being offered the lead part. “It’s such an iconic character, and… it’s one of those roles where anything goes and you can be as big and as imaginative as possible, but honestly, after not working for eight months, I was so excited and ready for the task, and it was terrifying and thrilling and just liberating all at the same time.”
“Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch Musical!” will also feature Broadway veteran Denis O’Hare as the titular character’s dog, Max, and “Twilight” actor Booboo Stewart as the younger version of the pooch when it airs in the U.S. on Wednesday night (December 09).

The new episode, which also served as the semi-finals of season 19, featured the Top 9 taking the stage to sing in hopes for America’s vote that would send them to the finals.
