‘Bold and the Beautiful’ to Resume Production With On-Set Covid Rules

The Forresters will be back scheming and sashaying on set on Wednesday when CBS’s soap opera “The Bold and the Beautiful” becomes what is believed to be the first scripted U.S. broadcast series to return to production amid the pandemic. The Emmy-winning series, which has filmed more than 8,000 episodes since its premiere in 1987, was recently renewed through 2022. Production has been shut down since March 17 because of coronavirus-related restrictions, and the last original episode aired in April.Of course, it’s unsure when viewers will be able to see the drama unfold, as no air date has been set for the series’ return. But the hope is that it would be in early to mid-July, said Eva Basler, the vice president of communications at Bell-Phillip TV Productions, the studio that produces the series.Safety protocols will include masks for all actors and crew members — except the actors who are filming a scene — as well as regular testing for cast and crew, and shorter work days with fewer actors on set and staggered call times. All of the measures are in accordance with the Covid-19 guidelines set by the city, county and state; the series also hired a Covid-19 coordinator to ensure compliance. While “The Bold and the Beautiful” may be the first scripted network series to return to production, some reality shows have been continuing to tape remotely. “American Idol” and “The Voice” returned in May. “Idol” producers shipped video and lighting equipment to performers and asked them to record from their bedrooms, backyards or basements. “The Bachelorette” has not yet returned to production, but producers have been exploring renting a private resort for several weeks to do so. Kaitlyn Bristowe Joins 'DWTS' Season 29 After Allegedly Being Blocked From the Show

    Instagram

Her casting is announced during a new episode of ‘The Bachelor: The Greatest Seasons – Ever’ with host Chris Harrison breaking the news to her and boyfriend Jason Tartick.
    Jun 16, 2020
AceShowbiz – Kaitlyn Bristowe’s dream has finally come true. In the Monday night, June 15 episode of “The Bachelor: The Greatest Seasons – Ever!”, the former “The Bachelorette” star was revealed to be joining upcoming season 29 of “Dancing with the Stars”, much to her own surprise.
During the episode, host Chris Harrison told Kaitlyn, “In all seriousness, I do have a real question for you Kaitlyn. This is a question I’m so excited to ask you because, well, your life is about to change.” In response to that, Kaitlyn nervously asked her boyfriend Jason Tartick, “Do you know about this?”
“Kaitlyn, will you be on the next season of ‘Dancing with the Stars’?” Chris finally asked. Kaitlyn could be seen gasping with excitement and said, “Play it cool Kaitlyn, play it cool! Are you serious? Chris! I’m shaking. Oh my gosh. Chris, I feel like I’m going to cry.”
“I feel like this is back to the moment where you told me I was the Bachelorette. That is the last thing in the world I thought you were going to say. I thought you were going to ask me to take over your job … I don’t know,” she continued. “Yes yes! I’m so honored to say yes.”

Back in 2019, Kaitlyn revealed during her appearance on “Talkhouse Podcast” that “Bachelor” franchise creator Mike Fleiss blocked her from the ABC dancing competition. “They won’t let me [go on the show], ever,” she told comedian Nikki Glaser.
“I’ll tell you exactly why I can’t go on ‘Dancing with the Stars’. Anybody that listens to this podcast knows why I cannot go on ‘Dancing with the Stars’. And it’s because, and I will say this with a mic in my hand and a smile on face, that Mike Fleiss is a piece of s**t. He is the creator of ‘The Bachelor’, and he hates women.”
That wasn’t the first time for Kaitlyn to make such claims. Back in 2017, she tweeted, “Actually I was offered it, had the contract & Mike Fliess [sic] told me I wasn’t allowed. He said he didn’t want people wanting fame after his show.” Mike then responded to the tweet, saying, “@kaitlynbristowe has my total support if she wants to appear on DWTS!!!”

'The X Factor U.K.' Producers Investigate Racism Allegations Against Two Judges

    Instagram

Former contestant Misha B claims to have been changed by her experience on the competition show after Tulisa Contostavlos and Louis Walsh accused her of bullying other hopefuls.
    Jun 16, 2020
AceShowbiz – The producers of British TV talent show “The X Factor” are investigating a former contestant’s bullying claims against two judges.
Misha B has revealed she considered ending her life when Tulisa Contostavlos and Louis Walsh accused her of bullying other hopefuls on the show in 2011 – the series Little Mix won.
Louis alleged that contestants in his category had come to him with complaints about her and suggested she was “overconfident,” while Tulisa considered Misha “feisty” and “mean,” and the musician recently spoke out about her treatment on the show, claiming the judges picked on her because she was black, and revealing her time on “The X Factor” left her with post-traumatic stress disorder.
In an Instagram Live video, Misha said, “That experience, that trauma, had changed me as a person… I didn’t trust anyone. Everyone asks me, ‘Misha, where have you been? What’s been going on?’ I’ve been battling. I’ve been healing. I’ve been working on self. I started therapy in 2012. I’m still having therapy now.”

Misha, who singled out judge Kelly Rowland for being there for her, also slammed Tulisa, claiming she “scripted” an exchange, in which she was described as “feisty” and “mean,” playing into the racist stereotype of the angry black woman.
“X Factor” bosses have taken note of what Misha has said and they are looking into the matter.
In a statement obtained by WENN, a spokesman says, “We are very concerned to hear Misha’s comments regarding her experience on ‘The X Factor’ in 2011. We are currently looking into this matter and are reaching out to Misha to discuss the important issues she has raised.”
“The welfare of contestants is our priority and we are committed to diversity and equality.”

Sunny Hostin Reacts to Alleged 'Racist Comments' From ABC News Exec on Robin Roberts

    Instagram

ABC News casting executive Barbara Fedida, meanwhile, has denied the accusation in a statement, calling the allegations ‘heartbreaking and incredibly misleading claims.’
    Jun 16, 2020
AceShowbiz – ABC News executive Barbara Fedida landed in hot water after it was reported that she made racist remarks about black colleagues including “Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts (II). According to a new report, the white female casting executive has been abusing her power and made sensitive remarks after Roberts asked for money as a part of a contract renewal.
“Roberts, a Black woman who has co-anchored ‘Good Morning America’ since 2005, wanted more money as part of a contract renewal, and Fedida felt that Roberts had gotten enough,” the report from Huffington Post read. “Fedida then asked what more Roberts could want and said it wasn’t as if the network was asking Roberts to ‘pick cotton,’ according to one source who was in the room and witnessed the exchange.” Additionally, Fedida was said to have called female staffers “c**ts” and brought a toxic work environment.
In response to the report, ABC News representative said in a statement on Saturday, June 14, “There are deeply disturbing allegations in this story that we need to investigate, and we have placed Barbara Fedida on administrative leave while we conduct a thorough and complete investigation.”
The statement continued, “These allegations do not represent the values and culture of ABC News, where we strive to make everyone feel respected in a thriving, diverse and inclusive workplace.”
Later in the Monday episode of “The View”, Sunny Hostin addressed the allegations. “I think I should say something,” she said. “It was a tough weekend for me and I was really disappointed and saddened and hurt when I learned about the racist comments that were made allegedly about me, my colleagues and my dear friends.”
“Because if true, to reference Robin Roberts, who is one of the most respected and beloved journalists in our country, as ‘picking cotton,’ to reference me, someone who has been very open about growing up in public housing, as being ‘low rent,’ to reference Kendis Gibson, who was my office mate at ABC and now is an MSNBC anchor, to say that he isn’t worth paying as much as ABC would pay for toilet paper,” she continued.
“The fact that Mara Schiavocampo, who is a friend and former colleague at ABC, that she has an NDA in place and can’t talk about her experiences at ABC, tells me that systemic racism touches everything and everyone in our society, regardless of social stature,” Hostin went on to say. “No one is immune. It’s the type of racism that Black people deal with every single day and it has to stop.”
Referring to her “The View” co-hosts, Hostin continued, “I felt supported by all of you. I know [Meghan McCain] and I had at least an hour conversation this weekend. [Whoopi Goldberg], you were so supportive. [Joy Behar], you were so supportive. My executive producers on the show were so supportive and I thank you all for that. But again, this has got to stop. And I just look forward to changes, if all this is true, here at ABC and just in our country.”

Fedida, meanwhile, denied the claims. “I am proud of my decades of work of hiring, supporting and promoting talented journalists of color. And, unlike these heartbreaking and incredibly misleading claims about me, that track record is well-documented and undeniable,” she, who is placed on leave now, insisted. “I look forward to the results of what I hear is going to be an independent external investigation and I felt very loved and supported by my colleagues.”

'90 Day Fiance' Star Lisa Shares Cryptic Posts Amid Report of Her Firing

    Instagram

Lisa Hamme a.k.a. Baby Girl appears to protest TLC’s alleged decision to kick her out of the reality show following her use of the n-word during a social media exchange with her estranged husband Usman Umar.
    Jun 15, 2020
AceShowbiz – “90 Day Fiance” star Lisa Hamme a.k.a. Baby Girl has fueled speculation that she has been fired from the reality show. Amid mounting rumors about her dismissal from the TLC series, she shared cryptic posts that suggested she’s being silenced.

In one of her posts, she shared a picture of her with duct tape over her mouth. “Contact @roccostraz [her booking agent] as well you see,” she captioned the snap, while turning off the comments. On Friday, June 13, she posted a similar photo with different filter and wrote in the caption, “Silence,” while once again tagging her booking agent.

Rumors of Lisa’s firing started to swirl after she called her estranged husband Usman Umar the n-word on social media. “Lisa, last week you called me n***** which I know is totally inappropriate in America,” said Usman. “You called me n*****. I don’t even get angry about it because I am used to how you are behaving.”
She was supposed to address the comment on new “90 Day Fiance” spin-off “B90 Strikes Back”, which is scheduled to premiere on June 22, but she has reportedly been taken off of the show. She was also scheduled to do an Instagram Live interview with comedian Trenton Davis, but TLC allegedly banned her from doing it to prevent her from further talking about her racist remark at Usman.
She seemed to confirm the speculation by reposting an article about her getting fired on her Instagram story. According to The Blast, sources close to the situation said that she might fight TLC legally for the firing despite signing an NDA.
Meanwhile, Lisa has apologized after facing backlash for her use of the n-word. “It is said if you sin and you apologize and you pray for forgiveness, it is forgiven,” she said on Instagram Live. “So, my husband and I, it is a private matter between him and I. Because they are not going to drop it and it’s sad. Because the world needs to be united. We are human beings.”
She continued addressing her offensive remark, “It just bothers me that there are so many hateful people in the world. We have people dying every day. I made the mistake of saying the n-word. I apologized several times. But you still want to come at me. This is something between my husband and I. but I’m here to take your abuse.”

‘Billions’ Season 5, Episode 7 Recap: Moral Inconvenience

Season 5, Episode 7: ‘The Limitless ____”Bobby Axelrod can see the Matrix. Or whatever the moneymaking equivalent of the Matrix would be.After popping a barely legal brain enhancement pill called Vigilantix, provided by Axe Cap’s resident dark-arts practitioner Victor Mateo, Bobby is convinced that both he and any of his employees who have taken this dubious drug are thinking five, 15, 50 steps ahead of their competitors. As stock-ticker numbers fly across the screen, his eyes glow as blue as the Night King’s from “Game of Thrones,” as if he had literal superpowers. And he is focusing those powers on a single goal: Corner the rare-minerals market by investing in meteor harvesting. No, really. It takes all the argumentative power of his protégé turned rival turned partner, Taylor Mason, to convince him of the truth: This get-rich-quick scheme will shoot a $3 billion hole in the company’s bottom line. Didn’t he realize that if meteors become an abundant source of precious minerals, those minerals will become … not so precious anymore? It’s simple supply and demand, and thanks to Victor’s little pink pills, blue-eyed Bobby’s vision was too clouded to see it.Directed by David Costabile (who plays Wags) from a script by Emily Hornsby and the co-showrunners Brian Koppelman and David Levien, this episode of “Billions” is replete with punchy plotlines and payoffs. Schemes are cooked up and pulled off in rapid-fire succession, ending with a declaration of all-out war. Thanks to a Covid-19-necessitated hiatus, the episode stands as an ersatz season finale, and as such it stands tall.Let’s circle back to Taylor, for instance. Taylor Mason Carbon starts the episode in a bind, as a company in which the firm has invested reveals that the tin it uses to build cheap solar panels has been sourced from the conflict-ravaged Congo. As impact investors, they have both a moral and a financial imperative to change directions, and pronto. So too does their fellow investor Mike Prince. He may be Bobby Axelrod’s latest bête noire, but he’s also a potential ally in the effort to right this particular ship. With Lauren and Wendy in tow, Taylor makes the pilgrimage to Prince, where their two teams are to collaborate on a plan of action. Mike makes the call against a slow transition to a more ethical source of tin, on the grounds that eating a few quarters of losses is a small price to pay for what they would otherwise lose in reputation. He even offers to buy Taylor Mason Carbon out of their position should they prefer it. Both Taylor and Wendy feel he’s being honest with them, so they volunteer to stay aboard and back Prince’s rapid-transition plan.Only a few scant hours pass between when Taylor saves Bobby’s bacon on the meteor-mineral play and when Taylor divulges the partnership with Prince. To say it goes over like a lead balloon would be to insult lead balloons. Axe, and his right-hand man Wags, are convinced Prince has played Taylor, that the whole partnership was concocted to put a multiquarter loss on Axe Cap’s balance sheet. Quoting “The Godfather” (of course), Axe and Wags vow to go to the mattresses, declaring all-out war on Prince and anything he holds dear. No Vigilantix-derived mania here: He means what he says. And it’s hardly the first time he has gone to war in this episode. Over the course of this season, Axe has seemed increasingly unable to bear Wendy’s relationship with the Michalengelo to his Medici, Nico Tanner. After a cringingly awkward dinner date involving Wendy, Tanner, the real-life tennis star Maria Sharapova, Wags and … well, the intended mother of Wags’s children, Axe unilaterally holds a viewing party in Tanner’s studio, allowing a bunch of real-life “appearing as themselves” bigwigs (C. C. Sabathia, sports fans!) to browse the artist’s latest works. When an attractive socialite catches Tanner’s attention, Axe’s plan becomes clear. He wants to shatter the illusion of integrity for Wendy, showing her that her new beau is just as corruptible by money, power and influence — and not to mention sex — as anyone else. It’s an ugly power play to pull on someone Bobby has considered a peer and partner for years. But by this point we know him too well to put any amount of ugliness past him.The same is almost true of our relationship with Chuck Rhoades. Some of the New York attorney general’s ends seem to justify their means well enough, as when he sends his Yale Law students on a fishing expedition for evidence against the unctuous treasury secretary Todd Krakow. When half the class bails and the other half fails, he heeds his lieutenant Kate Sacker’s advice and ushers Krakow to his own undoing. By simply hinting that an investigation into his wrongdoings might be underway, he causes Krakow to torpedo his own career, getting him bounced out of the cabinet within 24 hours. Fortunately for those of us who hold out hope for the fate of Chuck’s soul, there are still some measures he won’t stoop to in order to get the job done.Sure, he’ll drum up a fake blood drive in the attorney general’s office in order to see whether any of his employees are viable donors for his ailing father, whose failing kidneys currently constitute a death sentence. But that’s really just a workaround for his original plan: tapping the sketchy fitness impresario Pete Decker (Scott Cohen) and his mind-boggling sleazy friend Dr. Swerlow (Rick Hoffman) for help in beating the tests that prove his old man isn’t a fit donation recipient — and in finding a black-market donor source, should it come to that.Chuck ultimately stops short of agreeing to harvest a kidney from an undocumented child in federal custody, as Dr. Swerlow proposes. But when he has danced right up to that line, would it surprise anyone if, eventually, he marched right over it?Loose change:“Godfather” reference watchers will of course have made note of Axe and Wags’s disquisition on “going to the mattresses,” but the more subtle allusion — well, by “Billions” standards — is the sound of a subway that accompanies Krakow’s in-the-moment decision to torpedo himself, borrowed directly from the crescendoing cacophony that accompanies Michael Corleone’s assassination of Captain McCluskey and the Turk.I don’t know about you, but my biggest laugh-out-loud moment in this episode was when the new Mason Carbon hire Rian claimed to have become fluent in Spanish thanks to Victor’s brain pills, but then spewed forth utter gibberish along the lines of John Lennon’s Spanish folderol in “Sun King.”Bobby’s vision of the stock numbers flying through the air around him will be an animated gif by night’s end, mark my words.Considering the state of the world, it’s a small thing indeed, but I’m choosing to look at the breakup of this season of “Billions” into two separate halves as a good thing. It means one more “Hey, it’s ‘Billions’ season again!” to look forward to. More

Matt Lucas and David Walliams Regret Blackface and Transphobic Jokes in 'Little Britain'

    BBC

The two British comedians apologize for wearing blackface and joking about transvestites in their sketch series after the show was pulled by BBC and Netflix.
    Jun 15, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Little Britain” ‘s Matt Lucas and David Walliams have apologised for their use of blackface in the comedy sketch series.
The duo donned fat suits and blackface to portray ethnic characters that many new viewers have deemed insensitive, leading to bosses at the BBC and Netflix to remove the show from streaming services.
In a joint statement, the pair insisted it was “wrong” to portray characters of other races, but reiterated it’s something they have apologised for in the past.
“Matt & I have both spoken publicly in recent years of our regret that we played characters of other races,” Walliams penned. “Once again we want to make it clear that it was wrong & we are very sorry.”
Lucas went on to share the same statement on his own social media pages.
Back in 2017, the former “Doctor Who” actor admitted that, “If I could go back and do Little Britain again, I wouldn’t make those jokes about transvestites. I wouldn’t play black characters.”
“Basically, I wouldn’t make that show now. It would upset people. We made a more cruel kind of comedy than I’d do now.”
“Little Britain” was a hit in the U.K. from 2003 to 2007.
