Faith Stowers on Firing of Former 'Vanderpump Rules' Co-Stars: God Gave Me Sign of Optimism

    Instagram

Bravo confirms that Stassi Schoeder and Kristen Doute, who were accused of racially profiling, will not be making a return for season nine, along with new cast members Max Boyens and Brett Caprioni.
    Jun 10, 2020
AceShowbiz – Faith Stowers is delighted with the outcome of her speaking out against Stassi Schoeder and Kristen Doute for their racism acts. Shortly after it was confirmed that her two former co-stars have been fired from “Vanderpump Rules” after eight seasons, the reality TV star shared her thought on the matter.
Revealing that she was in the middle of praying when she heard the firing news, the 31-year-old told PageSix, “I felt a sense of – I know it sounds corny – I felt a sense of glory. I felt God’s presence and I’m seeing now [that the news has been revealed] maybe that is what that was.” She added, “He gave me a sign of optimism meant to be hopeful and showing that all of this was worth it.”
The “Ex on the Beach” alum additionally expressed satisfaction over the reaction to her candid confession. “I feel so vindicated studios and production are able to see blatant racism and make these positive changes and help move the race forward – help with the fight forward,” she explained in her statement.
“I was ready to put myself in the line of fire because I don’t know what will happen if I don’t say anything, but I’m glad I did,” Stowers continued. “Now I’m seeing Bravo follow suit – the same as MTV and ‘The Challenge’ – [by] letting go of castmates that have also made racist remarks. Bravo is releasing women that have given them crazy ratings because they want to be on the right side of history.”
Noting that she is “seeing [that] people are finally hearing us,” the TV personality further voiced hope that the changes will not happen just this once. She expected that production companies and networks are “ready to hire casting directors and producers of color to make sure these changes are not just a one-time thing.”
The letting go of Schoeder and Doute was made public on Tuesday, June 9. Through a statement to the press, Bravo announced, “Bravo and Evolution Media confirmed today that Stassi Schroeder, Kristen Doute, Max Boyens and Brett Caprioni will not be returning to Vanderpump Rules.” Both Boyens and Caprioni also took the fall due to their past racist tweets which resurfaced in January.
Schoeder and Doute were accused by Stowers of racial profilling her one week earlier. During an Instagram Live chat with “Floribama Shore” star Candace Rice, Stowers revealed that the two made a police report against her over a crime she did not do. “It was just funny, because they thought it was me because it was a black woman with a weave,” she spilled. “So, they just assumed it would be me, and they called the cops on me.”
Stowers’ revelation prompted both Schroeder and Doute to issue an apology. Schroeder said in her statement, “I have grown significantly from the person I was then, and I am still filled with remorse and regret for the hurt I caused,” as Doute clarified in a separate statement, “I’m ashamed, embarrassed, and incredibly sorry. I will do better. I have to do better.”

‘The Flash’ Actor and Showrunner React to Hartley Sawyer’s Dismissal

Grant Gustin, who plays the title hero on “The Flash,” and Eric Wallace, the showrunner for the series, spoke out publicly on Monday after the firing of Hartley Sawyer, an actor on the show. Sawyer was dismissed for tweets he made before joining the series in 2017. The tweets, which were recently resurfaced, included jokes about racism and several remarks against women.Gustin wrote on Instagram: “I will say I was shocked, saddened and angry when I saw the tweets. Words matter.”In a joint statement, the network and the show’s producers, Warner Bros. TV and Berlanti Productions, announced that the actor would not return for the new season in the fall. It also stated: “We do not tolerate derogatory remarks that target any race, ethnicity, national origin, gender or sexual orientation. Such remarks are antithetical to our values and polices, which strive and evolve to promote a safe, inclusive and productive environment for our workforce.”On May 30, Sawyer posted an apology on Instagram which read, in part: “I’m not here to make excuses — regardless of the intention, my words matter and they carry profound consequences.”Wallace, who is also an executive producer for “The Flash,” posted his own statement on Twitter. He said: “Concerning his social media tweets, they broke my heart and made me mad as hell. And they’re indicative of the larger problem in our country. Because at present, our country still accepts and protects the continual harassment — unconscious or otherwise — terrorizing and brutalizing of Black and Brown people, which is far too often fatal.”He added, “That’s why our country is standing up once again and shouting, ‘ENOUGH!’ to bring about active change.” More

Issa Rae Baffled After Donald Trump Liked 'Insecure' Tweet

    WENN

As if the possibility of POTUS watching the HBO series, which stars Issa and Jay Ellis among others, is not surprising enough, the tweet marks the only tweet that he likes as of now.
    Jun 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – President Donald Trump is no stranger to sparking controversy with his online activities. Recently, POTUS confused “Insecure” fans as well as star Issa Rae after he liked a tweet someone posted during the show’s latest episode on Sunday, June 7.
The said tweet was from an account named shiningheaux. Posting a GIF from “The Color Purple” where two characters are sitting in a field of flowers and clapping hands. “This is how I wanted tonight’s episode of insecure to end….Damn Molly,” wrote the user in the caption.
As if the possibility of Donald watching “Insecure” is not surprising enough, the tweet marks the only tweet that Donald likes as of now. “Holy s**t. Donald Trump watches Insecure?!?!?!” a fan voiced his surprise while tagging Issa’s account. Catching wind of the post, Issa responded, “what the f**k is this.”
Also chiming in on the matter was Issa’s “The Lovebirds” co-star Kumail Nanjiani. “Well I found one thing I have in common with him: we’re both big fans of @IssaRae,” he tweeted, referring to Donald Trump. Issa replied to the tweet, writing, “Kumail.”
Fans were equally baffled with Trump’s recent Twitter activity. “He saw two black People in the field and liked it,” one said on Instagram. Another one suggested that the president had been “out his orange mind.”
“Yoooo what is wrong with this man,” a confused user wrote. Either way, a person alluded that despite the controversial things surrounding him, “the man knows good TV.”
This arrived after Trump once again drew the ire of public after mentioning George Floyd during his speech about jobs. In his speech on Friday, June 5, Trump suggested that Georg must be happy in heaven now.
“Hopefully, George is looking down right now and saying this is a great thing that’s happening for our country,” he said. “This is a great day for him, it’s a great day for everybody. This is a great day for everybody. This is a great, great day in terms of equality.”
Some news outlets, however, falsely reported that Trump suggested George must be happy in heaven because the number of unemployment dropped, while he actually mentioned the late 46-year-old African-American man when talking about the importance of equality in policing. That prompted some internet users to criticize him, with one of them calling him “despicable.”

    Instagram

During a recent SAG Foundation Conversations interview, the ‘Hunger Games’ actress discusses her participation in Damien Chazelle’s new Netflix jazz club drama.
    Jun 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – Amandla Stenberg was the perfect choice to star in Damien Chazelle’s new Netflix jazz club drama “The Eddy”, because she’s named after a Miles Davis album.
The actress reveals her mother was a big fan of Davis and when she learned the title of his “Amandla” album was inspired by an anti-apartheid “rally cry” in South Africa, she knew she had found her daughter’s name.
“I was named after a Miles Davis album, and that album was named after a concept that is very powerful and big, which is ‘Amandla’ in South African means power to the people,” Stenberg explained during a recent SAG Foundation Conversations interview.
“It’s an anti-apartheid rally cry there. I think Miles Davis took inspiration from that and entitled his album after that. My mum, who loves Miles Davis, named me after both.”
Chazelle’s new project was a natural fit for “The Hunger Games” star, who grew up listening to jazz.
“To be able to sing in this show was super exciting to me,” she added. “Every single day I got to be around these world class jazz musicians who set the tone of the set and would perform every day. It was a real pleasure and passion…”
