Todrick Hall Hopeful for 'The Greatest Dancer' Comeback Following Cancellation

    WENN/Avalon

The ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ star, who joined the competition show for its second season, admits he was not surprised by the axing after learning about social distancing guidelines for coronavirus.
    May 15, 2020
AceShowbiz – Todrick Hall is confident his BBC TV show “The Greatest Dancer” will be back on air, after blaming the coronavirus crisis for its recent axing.
The program, which also starred British pop star Cheryl Cole and former “Glee” actor Matthew Morrison on the judging panel, pitted dance hopefuls against each other as they competed for a grand prize of $62,000 (£50,000), and the chance to perform on U.K. TV talent show “Strictly Come Dancing”.
However, after just 2.8 million viewers tuned in for the most recent finale – in which Michael and Jowita were crowned the champions – bosses at the BBC are said to have decided to pull the plug on the series.
Speaking to the U.K.’s Daily Mail newspaper, “RuPaul’s Drag Race” star Todrick, who joined the show for its second season, insisted, “When I heard about all the social distancing I wasn’t surprised (it was cancelled).”
“If the audience can’t be there it won’t work,” he explained. “It’s like ‘The Voice’ with no judges and spinning chairs.”
However, the former “American Idol” contestant is hopeful for a comeback, adding, “I think there’s hope (it could return). We had a great time doing it – me and all the other captains loved it.”
“That show gives people an awesome experience to be creative. The production value is one of the best I’ve seen. And I love that it was about the dancers – they weren’t in the background. Everything was awesome – the costumes, staging, props – all of it telling a story.”

Lucy Hale 'Way Too Protective' to Have 'Pretty Little Liars' Brought Back Without Her

    ABC Family

The Aria Montgomery depicter hopes she will be involved as a producer if the popular teen drama mystery thriller television series is revived with a whole new cast one day.
    May 15, 2020
AceShowbiz – Actress Lucy Hale would love to see a spin-off series based on her hit U.S. TV show “Pretty Little Liars” – as long as she’s brought onboard to produce it.
The star is set to reunite with cast mates Ashley Benson, Troian Bellisario, Tyler Blackburn, Ian Harding, Shay Mitchell, Janel Parrish, and Sasha Pieterse for an upcoming Covid-19 fundraising livestream for non-profit Feeding America on Friday, May 15, 2020.
In a chat with Entertainment Tonight, Lucy said the virtual gathering was “a no-brainer,” as all of the stars have plenty of free time while stuck in lockdown, and she went on to muse over the future of the franchise – which she’s sure will be revived.
“We’re in a quarantine that we thought would last a couple weeks. Anything is possible at this point,” she said of a potential big screen project. “I don’t rule anything out, (but) I feel like we’d need a little more time to pass. I feel like we would get more out of it if we were, like, 10 years down the road.”
Lucy continued, “I feel like they’re gonna do a spinoff or something before then. I don’t know. I’m so protective of this show So I feel like when the time comes that they want to do it with a whole new cast, I might have to produce it because I’m way too protective of it.”
The actress played Aria Montgomery in the teen drama series, about a group of friends being stalked by a mysterious figure named “A” who threatens to expose their deepest secrets.
The “Pretty Little Liars” reunion event, hosted through Cast4Good, kicks off Friday at 3 P.M. ET. Check out the stream here.

The pregnant singer appeared on Thursday’s May 14, 2020 episode of the show, filmed before the coronavirus shutdown, and stunned judge Jock Zonfrillo by asking him to cut up her food so she didn’t need to use her sprained thumb.
“Will you cut my meat for me?” she asked before trying a braised pork dish.
The Scottish chef indulged her request, prompting Perry to say, “Party in my mouth! Put it in my mouth, Daddy!”

'Survivor' Season 40 Winner Plans to Use Prize Money for Financial Security Amid COVID-19 Crisis

Having beaten Natalie Anderson and Michele Fitzgerald to be ‘Survivor: Winners At War’ champion, Tony Vlachos assures that he won’t get matching vehicles for himself and his wife.
    May 14, 2020
AceShowbiz – Tony Vlachos will make the best out of his “Survivor” prize money in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. Shorty after being crowned “Survivor: Winners At War” champion, the 46-year-old reality star admits he will be seeking financial security using the two million dollar prize he won from the competition series.
“It opened up my eyes to see how [important] financial security it is. Anything can happen,” the police officer told ET after the Wednesday, May 13 finale. “Right now we’re going through people losing their jobs.” He added, “The first million that I won with ‘Survivor’, I invested in a lot of properties… the best thing to do is to pay off those mortgages and be secure.”
Asked if he will get matching vehicles with his wife, Tony responded, “Me and my wife, we’re good. We’re just going to relax and watch our kids live their life to the fullest.” He went on to reveal that he has promised to buy his children “go-karts, little ones with gas in them,” spilling further, “They’re so excited about that. One pink one, one blue one.”
With his Wednesday win, Tony joined Sandra Diaz-Twine as the second-ever two-time “Survivor” winner. He had previously won “Survivor: Cagayan”. When asked who is the greatest of the greatest, however, he was quick to point out, “It’s very hard to say.” Still, he did point out, “But the one thing I can say is in this season, I think I’m the greatest. To me, that’s how it is.”
During the chat, Tony confessed that watching the clip of him sobbing after beating Sarah Lacina in the fire-making competition reduced him to tears. “I was bawling. It brought me right back to that moment and I was devastated,” he explained. “Sarah is the most powerful person I’ve ever met.” He added, “So I give her credit, she’s a brave, brave human being.”
In the season 40 finale, Tony came out as a champion after beating out Natalie Anderson and Michele Fitzgerald with 11 out of 16 votes from jury members.

Rosie O'Donnell Stops Watching 'The View' Because It Changes

    WENN

The 58-year-old TV personality, who used to serve as co-host on the morning talk show before abruptly exiting in 2007, notes that the show has ‘been dumbed-down a lot.’
    May 14, 2020
AceShowbiz – Rosie O’Donnell has a lot to say when it comes to “The View”. The former co-host of the morning talk show reveals in a new interview that the show has changed drastically, noting that it has been too politically correct than it used to be.
“I don’t watch it anymore because it upsets me, and because I think it’s been dumbed-down a lot,” she explained. She went on saying, “Everyone seems to think they have their two-minute sound bite and they want to get everything in but in the old days, ‘The View’ had much more of a real conversation happening live, and it doesn’t feel like that’s happening anymore.”
The 58-year-old also recalled that when she returned to the show in 2014 following her 2007 departure, it stopped her from discussing the sexual assault accusations against Bill Cosby. “They didn’t let us talk about [it]. I was overtly told, ‘We are not discussing it, Rosie.’ One of the hosts told me that,” she shared.
Rosie joined “The View” in 2006 before abruptly exiting the show following an explosive fight with then co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck about the Iraq war.
In related news, “The Rosie O’Donnell Show” host addressed her feud with President Donald Trump. “I said some things about him — not nearly as bad as I could have said … but I just talked about him not being a self-made man, having money from his father, and saying he went bankrupt — and it made him go berserk,” she told The Daily Beast this week. “He went on a tirade for a good decade that hasn’t ended today.”
“I think he can’t let go of a strong woman standing up to him. He won’t let it die,” she added.

'Black Mirror' Writer to Shy Away From COVID-19 References Out of Fear of Inauthenticity

    WENN/Avalon

Although his hit Netflix show has built a reputation for its worrying depictions of the future, Charlie Brooker admits he is ‘not writing stories about societies falling apart at the moment.’
    May 14, 2020
AceShowbiz – Charlie Brooker won’t be using the coronavirus pandemic as inspiration for an episode of his dystopian drama “Black Mirror” – as he’s been heartened by people’s response.
Over five seasons, the British screenwriter’s hit Netflix show has built a reputation for its worrying depictions of the future, but he has been focusing on comedy writing while in lockdown at his home in London.
And Charlie says that when he does get round to writing season six, fans should not expect many references to COVID-19 as he feels people have responded admirably to the public health crisis by caring for their neighbours rather than behaving like they’re in a nightmarish “Black Mirror” plot.
“I’m not writing stories about societies falling apart at the moment, so read into that what you will,” he tells The Guardian. “If you look at classic dystopian stories, it becomes every man for himself immediately.”
“Actually, in this crisis, what’s happened is you’re more likely to be sitting indoors watching ‘Tiger King’ and worrying that your neighbour’s OK and asking to see if they need you to bring in a bag of potatoes or whatever. What’s actually happening at the moment is much more cohesive and heartening.”
In fact, he worries that if he did write a “Black Mirror” plot that drew heavily on the effect COVID-19 has had on the world, viewers would dismiss it as inauthentic.
“At the moment, if you were trying to write a story about a pandemic sweeping the world and everyone immediately turning on each other, plenty of people would look at that and go: ‘Well, that isn’t what’s happened.’ So there’s plenty of room for bleak stories and horror movies – it’s just I think you’ve got to approach it slightly differently,” the 49-year-old explains.
Charlie returns to British TV screens with “Antiviral Wipe”, his satirical take on life in lockdown, which airs on Thursday (May 14) at 9 P.M. on BBC Two.

'RHOA': Eva Marcille Believes Porsha Williams and NeNe Leakes Planned Their Reunion Attacks

    Bravo

The Bravo star also hints in a new interview that she isn’t planning to rebuild a friendship anytime soon, saying, ‘I will always offer respect first, however, I’m no doormat.’
    May 14, 2020
AceShowbiz – In the aftermath of part 1 of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” explosive season 12 reunion, Eva Marcille is weighing on the attacks she got from co-stars NeNe Leakes and Porsha Williams. In a new interview with HollywoodLife.com, Eva shared she thought that nothing about the confrontation was spontaneous.
“I feel like NeNe and Porsha were on one,” she said in the recent Instagram Live TVTalk. “I don’t know what their deal was, but it felt very planned. It’s easier to derail a plan when you’re in person. They were just mad the whole time. They were just mad.”
“Porsha and NeNe came in there guns blazing,” Eva went on to say. “They were nasty!”
“I think that just the ability to be able to read off of each other’s body language. You have to remember, these reunions start at old dark 30. It’s at the crack of dawn and they were on 10 from the beginning until whichever was their end,” she continued saying about having to film a reunion separately due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Eva later hinted that she wasn’t planning to rebuild a friendship anytime soon. “I definitely am down to co-exist,” she shared. “I can definitely do that and I’ll always be respectful where it is warranted. I will always offer respect first, however, I’m no doormat. I’m no one’s lapdog and all the just be nice because I expect someone else to be nice to me, that’s out the window. We shall see!”

During the reunion, which aired on May 10, NeNe and Eva were arguing after the latter confronted NeNe about her comments in which she called for Eva’s firing. The two got into a screaming match with NeNe yelling, “Nobody cares about you being on a carpet 17 years ago,” referring to Eva’s “America’s Next Top Model” win back in 2004.
The two continued to take a jab at each other. Eva claimed that she was “the face of a cosmetic line,” but NeNe said that Eva was “broke” when she came to Atlanta. “All you can talk about is ‘Top Model’, and that was the last time you was on top. You’re a freshman, b***h. Remember that!” added NeNe, before demanding that Eva respected “the elders” and went “back to L.A.” At the end, host Andy Cohen muted NeNe’s video feed.
As for Eva and Porsha, the tension rose up after Porsha went after Eva for saying that her daughter, Pilar Jhena, looked like “Dennis [Porsha’s fiance] with a bow.”
