'KUWTK': Kim and Kourtney Kardashian Accused of Staging Fist Fight

    E!

Upon watching the recently-released sneak-peek at season 18, some Internet users speculate that ‘this kim and kourtney physical fight is gonna be fake and probably a prank theyre pulling on khloe or something.’
    Feb 28, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” recently shared a new trailer for upcoming season 18 and it successfully made headlines as it featured sisters Kim and Kourtney Kardashian getting physical with each other. However, fans were not exactly convinced that the fight wasn’t merely a show for ratings.
In the sneak-peek, Kourtney could be heard yelling at Kim Kardashian before she threw her drink at Kim. “You have nothing to say!” Kourt shouted while pushing Kim to the floor. Kim later responded, “Don’t ever come at me like that!” before swinging punches to her sister.
Upon watching the clip, some Internet users accused the reality TV star of staging the fight. “That weak a** fight between Kourtney and Kim looks so scripted cjfngmgmgmg,” one fan commented. “You guys are really hyping up Kim and Kourtney’s fight like that s**t isn’t staged. they desperately need ratings and are forcing storylines. The show should’ve been cancelled long ago,” one other added.
Not wanting to get fooled one more time, another user tweeted, “They really going to trick us to think Kim & Kourtney actually had a physical fight after they tricked us into thinking that Kris Jenner really got tackled my Kims Security team at her house….” Meanwhile, someone believed that “this kim and kourtney physical fight is gonna be fake and probably a prank theyre pulling on khloe or something.”
Fans can only find out when the new season of the long-running E! premieres on Thursday, March 26. However, Kim previously said she and sister Khloe Kardashian were frustrated with Kourtney because Kourtney was selfish and only wanted to film the show just when she felt like it. “If one family member goes on vacation a lot or takes time off a lot, the other family members have to step in and take over those hours,” she explained to Ellen DeGeneres.
“So for the past year, Khloe and I have been taking over her hours and working because we need content to make the show. So Khloe and I have been really frustrated that we’ve been working longer and we have kids and a lot of stuff going on, so it’s been exhausting for us when she hasn’t taken that into consideration without making a decision of what she wants to do: stay on the show or not.”
In the forthcoming season, Kourtney is expected to have less screen time as she said she was stepping back from the reality show to focus on raising her three young children with Scott Disick. “I just decided to spend more time as a mom and put more of my energy there,” she claimed. “But I’m not saying goodbye.”

'America's Got Talent': Sofia Vergara Is Tapped to Be a New Judge, Heidi Klum Returns

    WENN/Avalon

Heidi, who was absent in the last season of the show to serve as a judge on spin-off ‘America’s Got Talent: The Champions’, also reveals her excitement of Sofia’s addition.
    Feb 28, 2020
AceShowbiz – A new face and a familiar face are heading to “America’s Got Talent”. Following the departure of Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough, it has been confirmed that Sofia Vergara will be joining the NBC show for the next season with Heidi Klum returning to the mothership series.
“I’m so happy to join my new family on ‘AGT’,” said the “Modern Family” star, who is the first Latina to join the show as a judge, in a statement on Thursday, February 27. “This is a new and exciting next chapter for me and I’m extremely proud to be the first Latin judge on the show. I can’t wait to watch all the talent and have fun with all you guys!”
Meanwhile, Heidi claimed in a separate statement that she was “so excited to beback at ‘AGT’ with [Simon Cowell], [Howie Mandel] and [Terry Crews].” Heidi, who has been a judge on spin-off “America’s Got Talent: The Champions”, added, “The fact that Sofia Vergara is joining us is the icing on an already delicious cake.”
Meredith Ahr, President of Alternative & Reality Group in NBC Entertainment, also gushed over Sofia. “Sofia’s infectious energy and sharp wit will blend perfectly with returning favorites Heidi, Simon, Howie, and Terry. As both a respected actress and successful entrepreneur, she embodies the American dream that is synonymous with ‘AGT’ ‘s transformative stage.”
Sofia and Heidi are set to fill the void left by Gabrielle and Julianne, who both exited the talent competition show after only one season. Reports claimed that a “toxic” workplace enviroment led Gabrielle to withdraw from the show as she was reported to be receiving racist treatments in the form of offensive joke from guest judge Jay Leno.
It was also said that the “L.A.’s Finest” alum was told that some of her hairstyles were “too black” for the show. Additionally, Gabrielle allegedly had an issue with Simon’s rumored illegal smoking on set. Following the reports, Gabrielle revealed that she had a “lengthy 5-hour and…productive meeting” with NBC, AGT production company Fremantle and Simon’s company Syco Entertainment. An investigation into the matter was supposed to wrap by the end of January, though its results are yet to be revealed.

Review: With ‘Queen Sono,’ Netflix Enters New Territory

Unlike most spy thrillers in which statuesque, expensively dressed women show an unexpected talent for kicking the bejeezus out of armed men, the South African series “Queen Sono” also devotes a lot of time to historical and geopolitical debate, or at least sloganeering. An armed band that might be terrorists or might be freedom fighters declares its intent to liberate Africa from “the clutches of colonization.” A hapless do-gooder calls out the primary villain for being a neocolonialist, and is quickly abducted with extreme prejudice. The real colonizer, of course, is the one behind the screen: Netflix, where the six episodes of this sprawling, earnest, likable show debut on Friday. “Queen Sono” is Netflix’s first script-to-screen commission from Africa, another small step in the streaming giant’s takeover of international television and a significant leap in the visibility of African-made stories in America and elsewhere. That “Queen Sono” is unremarkable as an action and crime drama doesn’t cancel the excitement of seeing something new (if it’s indeed new to you).As with other test cases for narrative globalization, like the South Korean “Kingdom” or the Scandinavian “Ragnarok,” you can sense the bending of local traditions toward Netflix norms: the six-episode season; the emphasis on action and mystery; the clockwork interjections of a Westernized, universally intelligible wry humor. But “Queen Sono,” created by the South African writer and performer Kagiso Lediga, doesn’t compromise when it comes to rooting its story close to home. The title character, played by Pearl Thusi — she was the lawyer and C.I.A. agent Dayana Mampasi in ABC’s “Quantico” — is an undercover agent for a South African intelligence unit, a small and beleaguered group tasked, in somewhat cartoonish fashion, with protecting the country and the continent from every kind of threat. (Its size — five core members — makes you wonder whether the budget for “Queen Sono” wasn’t as generous as it was for other Netflix series.)Queen is an ace at hand-to-hand combat, but she, and the show, are saddled with an omnipresent back story about her mother, an activist killed in mysterious circumstances when Queen was a child. Her anger and guilt over her mother’s death tie into the show’s overall mood, a simmering anguish in which the ecstatic promise of South Africa’s liberation under Nelson Mandela has ebbed into stasis and corruption, with former heroes now busily pocketing bribes. The show’s embodiment of that outlook, and the motor of the season’s plot, is an alliance (perhaps plausible, but presented in awfully broad strokes) between a squad of black-nationalist revolutionaries and a Russian security outfit called Superior Solutions. (The initials S.S. aren’t remarked on, but are hard to miss.)That framework is certainly a serious part of Lediga’s conception of the show, and it serves a similar purpose, in terms of setting a mood, as do the more anonymous conspiracies and injustices of American or French noir. But spelling it out makes “Queen Sono” sound a lot more serious than it is. Between the speeches about colonial legacies and about historical atonement, there are plenty of throwdowns and chases and shootouts, staged with competence if not much flair. They tend to show up arbitrarily, on what feels like someone’s idea of an action-show timetable. When it’s time for a fight, there’s a fight. The pleasures of “Queen Sono” come outside of the action and the highly basic presentations of espionage and police work. They’re in the generally engaging performances, including warm and sharply funny work from Abigail Kubeka as Queen’s acerbic grandmother and Enhle Mlotshwa as the patient girlfriend of a man hung up on Queen. They’re also in the show’s freewheeling, lightly cynical humor — the fictional leader of South Africa is described as “their idiot president” by an outsider and “the most bribable statesman on the planet” by one of his own citizens. And for the unfamiliar viewer, they’re also in the locations — not just Johannesburg but also Zimbabwe, Kenya and, in a Bond-style opening, Zanzibar. On the other hand, if you do have some experience with African TV — the glossy, unapologetic melodramas of Nollywood or the viscerally brutal action thrillers of South Africa — you may find “Queen Sono” unsatisfyingly in-between, a halfhearted and problematic attempt to dress up a soft Western-style drama. If so, you can take heart in another aspect of the Netflix international effect: Its next African original, the teenage mystery “Blood & Water,” is due later this spring. More

‘Star Trek: Picard’ Season 1, Episode 6 Recap: Hugh Are My Friend

Season 1, Episode 6: ‘The Impossible Box’In this week’s “Star Trek: Picard,” the puzzle pieces, scattered in the first half of the season, finally start coming together. Picard reunites with Hugh on the captured Borg cube and finally connects with Soji. But not before Narek finally makes his intentions clear and tries to murder Soji, who at this point discovers who she really is: an android.Soji is a character constantly in search of secrets in a world hiding them from her. She knows Narek is hiding something and probes him for answers, to which she gets none — not even his real name. She suspects that there is more to her identity, but he doesn’t quite know what. Narek has to thread the needle here: Soji needs to know just enough to find the location of other synthetics, but not so much that she gets activated. He almost gets away with it too. First, he places her in what appears to be a Romulan sauna and probes her dreams for clues about the whereabouts of the other synthetics. Then he locks her in and tries to poison her. Not a great date if you ask me!This was a marvelous bit of directing by Maja Vrvilo: “Picard” has already shown its willingness to kill off a seemingly main character with Soji’s sister, Dahj. So killing off Soji didn’t seem out of the realm of possibility for the show. The way the scene is shot is full of tension as a result. But Soji gets activated regardless, and her superhuman strength — I should say, her android muscle — gets her out of the situation.I thought this was the best episode of the season, with some caveats. “Picard” has a tendency to rely on some clumsy exposition to help viewers remember details or to fill in back stories for plot lines to come. When Jurati is reminding the audience why Picard is uneasy about being on a Borg cube, it felt off. Anyone with a cursory knowledge of the character knows why Picard does not want to go back. But it does lead to a nice opportunity to watch Patrick Stewart dial into Picard’s anger at the Borg — much as he did in “Star Trek: First Contact.”“They don’t change,” Picard snarls. “They metastasize.”Speaking of “First Contact,” there are some lovely callbacks during this episode, including references to the Borg Queen and a glimpse of Picard as Locutus. In one great shot, Picard faces the projection screen with Locutus’s picture on it, and the camera swivels around to juxtapose the two faces, underscoring his internal tension. But there’s no bigger callback than the reunion between Hugh and Picard. Here, I must register a small complaint. It is certainly wonderful as a Trek fan to see two beloved characters from some of the best episodes of “The Next Generation” reunite. But the version of Hugh that Jonathan Del Arco plays in “Picard” seems entirely different from the intensely earnest one he played in “The Next Generation.”I realize that Hugh evolved and reclaimed more of his humanity. People change and grow over time. Certainly, former Borg drones who leave the collective do. Hugh doesn’t have as many cybernetic implants now. And I credit Del Arco with bringing warmth to this version of Hugh. Jeri Ryan did something similar with her resurrection of Seven of Nine. It feels almost as if these characters had been totally recast.I am being nitpicky here, of course. Ryan and Del Arco are excellent at their craft. I just wish we saw a bit more of the personalities we became accustomed to before “Picard” — Hugh’s oblivious sincerity, Seven of Nine’s well-meaning desire for order — rather than a wholesale reinvention.Even so, Del Arco’s Hugh is compelling and helps Picard and Soji escape by leading them to the “Queen’s Cell.”I will register a louder complaint. WHY. DOES. PICARD. LEAVE. ELNOR. BEHIND?! There was no reason for it! Even Picard asks — exasperated, “What are you doing?” when Elnor says he is staying behind to fight. Picard and Soji are able to step through the spatial trajector before the other Romulans arrive — so why does Elnor need to stay? This was such a waste of a great fighter. It feels like a gaping plot hole in a series that has otherwise been the most tightly written stretch of “Trek” episodes in the franchise. And do the Romulans even know about the spatial trajector? The implication from Hugh is that this Queen’s Cell is in a hiding spot of sorts.Odds And Ends:Jurati, who deftly hid her murderous ways in last week’s episode, begins a romance with Rios as he kicks around a soccer ball shirtless. (Not the first soccer reference on “Star Trek,” by the way.) I’m still not sure what to make of Jurati — but she seems genuinely remorseful for murdering Maddox. Or she could be a well-trained Romulan spy. Or both. And I’m certainly not sure of what to make of her being relieved about not having to go to the Borg cube.Raffi seems to be spiraling, although she deftly talks a Starfleet official into letting Picard request diplomatic credentials to board the Borg cube and deduces that the Romulans have kept Dahj alive for a reason. She is presented as someone for whom work is the only thing that can get her to focus. It’s her therapy. Yet, this episode makes clear that work isn’t enough. The scene with Raffi and Rios shows that her estrangement from her son is a source of deep frustration. Even a hard mission can’t solve that.So what happens with Hugh here? When we leave him, he is about to help Elnor fight off the oncoming Romulans. Presumably, the Romulans won’t be happy with him for helping Picard escape. So shouldn’t he have gone with Soji too? He could want to stay help out the reclaimed drones, but I am not sure how he does that now.Did anyone notice the former Borg drone who recognizes Locutus and calls his name in the hallway? And also that Picard turns his head? A nice touch there by Stewart and Vrvilo. This was not the first “Star Trek” episode to deal with an android’s dreams. Recall the “Next Generation” episode “Phantasms” as well as “Birthright,” during which Data discovers his own evolution. More

Courteney Cox: 'Friends' Reunion Special Is Going to Be Great

    NBC

In an episode of Kevin Nealon’s ‘Hiking with Kevin’, the actress known as Monica Geller on the hit sitcom expresses her excitement to get together with her co-stars once again.
    Feb 27, 2020
AceShowbiz – Courteney Cox has revealed her excitement about the upcoming “Friends” reunion special, adding that she and her former castmates are “going to have the best time”.
It was confirmed earlier this month that Courteney and her co-stars – Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer and Matthew Perry – will be teaming up for a one-off TV special for upcoming streaming service HBO Max.
And speaking about the prospect of reuniting as she joined comedian Kevin Nealon for an episode of his “Hiking with Kevin”, Courteney gushed: “So the exciting thing is that we’re all going to get together for the first time, in a room, and actually talk about the show,” Cox said. “And it’s going to be on HBO Max, and I’m so excited.”
“We’re going to have the best time. It’s going to be great. But we really haven’t all done that and actually sat there and talked about and reminisced about this incredible experience that we had. It’s gonna be fantastic.”
Courteney also revealed that a recent reunion she and her former co-stars had enjoyed – a picture of which broke the internet when Jennifer shared it as her first post upon joining Instagram – was one of just two dinners they’d had with all six cast members present since the show came to an end in 2004.
“The ideal for me – and we just actually recently did this, and it took forever,” she smiled. “I don’t know how many years it was, maybe 15 years – and we finally all got together and had dinner. And when we get together, which is never – it just doesn’t happen very often, like twice since we ended the show – it’s just the most fun. We laugh so hard.”
    [embedded content]
The special will be directed by Ben Winston and executive produced by both the cast members and the series’ original creators, Kevin Bright, Marta Kauffman, and David Crane, according to Variety.
An air date has yet to be announced.

'RHONJ' Season Finale: Teresa Giudice Ends Friendship with Danielle Staub, Addresses Split From Joe

    Bravo

In the episode, Tre and her daughters are heading to Italy to meet Joe following his release from both prison and ICE and the former couple can be seen having a one-on-one chat to discuss their future.
    Feb 27, 2020
AceShowbiz – Season 10 finale of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” that aired on Wednesday, February 26 saw Teresa Giudice calling it quits on both friendship with co-star Danielle Staub and marriage to husband Joe Giudice. In the episode, Melissa Gorga spilled the tea that Danielle told her that Teresa encouraged her to pull Margaret Joseph’s hair during their fight at a boutique.
Upon knowing that, Margaret lashed out at Teresa, saying, “I’m a little freaked out. I’m not gonna lie,” Marge finally said. “Why would you ever tell her to pull my hair? How sick is that? You f***ing love this girl so much that you’re gonna f***ing just let her hurt me? For what? For what? You’re a real f–king asshole. I’m like f***ing freaked out. This is your f–king friend? This is who you wanna associate with?”
After being blasted by Margaret, Teresa appeared to be pissed off because she knew that Bravo would most likely use this for storyline. “You guys are f**ing assholes. I’m going home!” she shouted after flipped one of the cameraman the bird and threw her drink.
Later, Teresa called Danielle and confronted her. “I’m really upset, Danielle. Melissa just told me what you did.” When Danielle told Tre not to be mad, Tre exploded, “I am! Don’t be mad? ‘Cause now Margaret’s gonna think that I told you to hurt her.”
“I didn’t agree with attacking someone. That was your f***ing decision, and then afterwards, what did I tell you afterwards? I’m so mad at myself. I don’t ever wanna hurt anybody again. It’s f***ed up. I’m not like that.” She then decided to end her friendship with Danielle, saying, “I wish you all the best, I just don’t wanna be friends anymore. I had enough. Alright, bye,” before hanging up.
Later in the episode, Tre and her daughters headed to Italy to meet Joe following his release from both prison and ICE. Tre and Joe could be seen having a one-on-one chat to discuss their future. “I want you to know how I feel, and I want you to tell me how you feel [before we leave],” Teresa told Joe. “We haven’t been with each other in so long. By the time we get used to each other, you’ll be gone.”
“The past five years have been really dark. You’ve said a lot of hurtful things to me like you wish you never married me and all this other stuff. It just makes me think about some things, like you marry someone and they’re supposed to protect you. It’s just, I don’t know, I trusted you and then you made s**t happen,” she continued.
Firing back, Joe replied, “[Teresa], s**t happens to everybody. Are you out of your mind? My crime was a bogus crime. People don’t even do time for that kind of crap. So let’s just forget about it. It’s in the past.”
“I guess that’s it,” Joe eventually said before they hugged and said goodbye to each other. Teresa responded, “No matter what, I want you to be happy endlessly.”

Lena Waithe Shuts Down Speculations of Her Stealing Concept for 'Girls Room'

    WENN/Avalon

The controversy surrounding ‘Girls Room’ starts after Atlanta screenwriter Nina Lee takes to Twitter to call attention to the similarities between Lena work and her own.
    Feb 27, 2020
AceShowbiz – Lena Waithe has finally broken silence amid accusations that she stole the idea for her new TV series “Girls Room” from Atlanta screenwriter Nina Lee. In a new Twitter post, Lena denies the allegations and insists that she would never steal from another artist.
“There has been an accusation floating around that I want to address. In 2019, I partnered with @Dove for their project #GirlsRoom. Prior to my joining the project, in 2017 a @Dove partner came up with the title and the concept from which my scripts were based,” Lena explained in the lenghty statement on Wednesday, February 26. “I was brought on to write the scripts and produce the content.”
“I have never seen Nina Lee’s work nor would I ever steal another artist’s work,” she went on writing. “As a fellow creator myself, I can only imagine how she must be feeling and I look to #Dove to give us more clarity on the situation. Now that I’m aware of Nina Lee, I look forward to seeing her art.”

Lena Waithe denied stealing concept for ‘Girls Room’.
The controversy started after Nina reacted to a trailer for Lena’s new series on Friday, February 21. “this looks awful, yes I’m hating,” so she wrote on Twitter while quoting the trailer. “This show was defeinitely a learning experience, thanks to everyone involved and to those who still believes in me!”
Nina explained in a separate tweet, “I made a lot of mistakes when it came to this show. Mistakes I can still feel. And I wish I knew then what I know now. We were young and didn’t know what we had on our hands. But thanks everyone involved! I’ve written 4 shows since then so if you’re an investor holla at me,” she tweeted.

Nina Lee first called attention for the similarities between Lena’s project and her own.
Noting another similarity between her 2017 work and Lena’s new project, the writer continued, “Even the way her show is colored is oddly similar, I have to laugh. Ours was fun as hell though cuz it was about the great drunk girls you meet (in) the girls restroom. And it extended out to their lives and how tough and rewarding navigating through life in your 20s can be.”
Dove, meanwhile, has issued a statement which read, “Dove started working on ‘Girls Room’ with our partners in early 2017, and we’re proud to have teamed up with ATTN: and Lena Waithe to bring the vision to life. The name of the series was developed before Lena or ATTN: were added to the project and was selected because our scenes mainly take place in the ‘Girls Room’, any similarity to other creative projects is entirely unintentional.”

What’s on TV Thursday: ‘I Am Not Okay With This’ and ‘Star Trek Beyond’

What’s StreamingI AM NOT OKAY WITH THIS Stream on Netflix. “I do want you to at least attempt to have a normal high school experience,” a school counselor tells Sydney (Sophia Lillis) in this new series. That’s not likely to happen: Sydney, a teenage girl in Pennsylvania, has superpowers that allow her to destroy objects with her mind. Adapted from a graphic novel by Charles Forsman, the series follows Sydney as she discovers those powers, which she grapples with alongside family tragedy and the awkward slog of high school. Helping her are a best friend (played by Sofia Bryant) and an eccentric young neighbor (Wyatt Oleff). The series “is firmly within both the superhero and teen-angst traditions,” James Poniewozik wrote in his review for The New York Times, “and, fair warning, is not immune to the clichés of either. What distinguishes it, however, beyond a tart voice and a pair of engaging performances, is that it commits as fully to its YA half as to its biff-pow-blam half.”UPGRADE (2018) Stream on HBO platforms. The filmmaker Leigh Whannell is behind the adaptation of H.G. Wells’s “The Invisible Man” that hits theaters this weekend. While many may be most likely to know Whannell as a screenwriter (“Saw” and “Insidious”), he has directed a couple of other movies. The most recent of those, “Upgrade,” is an action-horror romp that stars Logan Marshall-Green as Grey Trace, a man of the near future who has a technology implant that gives him superhuman abilities. He uses them to avenge his wife’s killing. “‘Upgrade’ is an energetic, superficially slick, latter-day B-movie of the ‘but dumb’ category,” Glenn Kenny wrote in his review for The Times. “That is, it’s kind of like ‘RoboCop,’ but dumb, and also like ‘Ex Machina,’ but dumb. In this respect the movie manages to be pretty funny.”BLUEBIRD (2019) Rent on Amazon, Google Play, iTunes, Vudu and YouTube. Bluebird Cafe, the landmark Nashville venue known as a haven for songwriters, is shown off in this documentary. The movie captures Taylor Swift, Garth Brooks, Maren Morris, Kacey Musgraves, Jason Isbell, Steve Earle and other musicians praising the cafe. What’s on TVSTAR TREK BEYOND (2016) 6:30 p.m. on Syfy. After directing “Star Trek” (2009) and “Star Trek Into Darkness” (2013), J.J. Abrams jumped ship to helm “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” So directing duties for this third entry in the most recent “Star Trek” movie series went to Justin Lin, known for several of the “Fast and the Furious” movies. But “Beyond” brings back the series’s key onscreen players, including James Tiberius Kirk (Chris Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto), Uhura (Zoe Saldana) and Sulu (John Cho). The villain this time is a warlord played by Idris Elba. “It should have been called ‘Star Trek Within,’” A.O. Scott wrote in his review for The Times, “in honor of its determination to color inside the lines, obeying the ironclad conventions of brand and genre.” More
