'RHOA': NeNe Leakes and Cynthia Bailey Squash Beef in an Emotional Meeting

    WENN/Instar

During the meeting, NeNe asks her former friend why she called her a ‘toxic friend’ while she used to think Cynthia as ‘somebody I considered to be a sister, and I felt she was out saying I was a toxic friend.’
    Feb 17, 2020
AceShowbiz – NeNe Leakes and Cynthia Bailey have been feuding with each other for almost a year, “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” co-stars had buried the hatched in a Sunday, February 16 episode of the Bravo show. That started after Cynthia sent NeNe a thank you note for the hors d’oeuvres she sent to congratulate Cynthia for the opening of her newest business, the Bailey Wine Cellar, and asked her to come to have a glass of wine together.
Of the meeting, Cynthia said in a confessional, “It really sucks to be in this place with NeNe. I’m not concerned about us being the best of friends again, but I can’t stand walking around knowing that she hates me.” She continued, “This has been a long time coming for us to sit down and have a conversation. I feel like we deserve to at least have a mutual respect for each other.”
During the meeting, NeNe asked her former friend why she called her a “toxic friend.” Sharing that she didn’t understand the reason, NeNe said, “This is somebody I considered to be a sister, and I felt she was out saying I was a toxic friend. ‘Toxic’ is heavy because I thought I was a good friend to Cynthia. So I thought that was a stretch. I thought the word was nasty.”
Explaining her side, Cynthia told NeNe, “When you are a friend, you are an amazing friend. When things go left, then you can be very closed, you’re very quick to shut people off, pretty much close people away. When I made that statement, you had said something things, I responded to some things, we both had said a lot.”
“Maybe toxic was a little strong, but I felt like the last time that we were together, I was trying to explain a situation to you and I felt like you were completely closed to hearing it. And then I actually saw you saying things about me that I didn’t like. … You have said I was weak and insecure, which is not true,” she continued. However, NeNe felt she was justified to say so and it led to them arguing on things.
At the end, NeNe walked out in tears. Cynthia, however, didn’t seem to want to ruin the moment so she went to NeNe and apologized. “I know that I hurt you,” Cynthia said. “I am sorry. … I know I have said some things that were not nice to say. Just give me a hug please. NeNe, I’m sorry.” NeNe responded, “And I’m sorry. I really am, I’m sorry. What I don’t want to do is hurt you. I don’t want to hurt you and that’s real, I don’t want to hurt you.”
NeNe and Cynthia’s beef had something to do with fellow cast member Kenya Moore. It started after the former felt blindsided when Cynthia didn’t tell her about Kenya’s appearance at one of her events despite knowing the tension between NeNe and Kenya.
“The Real Housewives of Atlanta” airs Sundays at 8 P.M. on Bravo.

Her reclusive lifestyle and enigmatic poetry have left plenty of blank space for later generations to fill in on their own. Last year the movie “Wild Nights With Emily” depicted the writer as the “heroine of a romantic comedy,” while “Dickinson,” a new series on Apple TV+, imbued her life with “millennial angst and sexual fluidity.” This Terence Davies film subverts the caricature of Dickinson that has developed over the years a bit more subtly. The director, A.O. Scott wrote in his review for The Times, “possesses a poetic sensibility perfectly suited to his subject.” His Dickinson is “a prickly, funny, freethinking intellectual, whose life is less a chronicle of withdrawal from the world than a series of explosive engagements with the universe.” This complex portrayal, he wrote, traces the poet’s development by paying “scrupulous attention to the milieu that fed it” and the existential dilemmas that both motivated and frustrated it.A FAMILY SUBMERGED (2018) Stream on Mubi. The movie, which takes place on the holiday itself, details the unraveling of a high school grudge between Sam (Jake Borelli) and Harry (Niko Terho) when they find themselves on a long road trip together. This fifth installation of the “Shaft” movies unites three generations of John Shafts: two detectives-gone-rogue and one M.I.T.-educated millennial. The 2019 version finds success in its characters and their dialogues, and the depiction of John Shaft (Samuel L. Jackson) shifts from an action hero to a politically incorrect dad. The Shaft newcomer, JJ (Jessie T. Usher), essentially serves as a reminder of contemporary issues and as a catalyst for shootouts. However, “story coherence has never been the point with Shaft,” A.O. Scott reminds us in his review in The New York Times. He adds: “He’s all about presence and presentation, and the grace and guile required to deal with the bad guys, the Man and of course all those women.” Jackson — who revived the series — stars again, and Richard Roundtree — the original Shaft — returns as JJ’s great-uncle.What’s StreamingBECAUSE OF WINN-DIXIE Stream on Disney Plus. Al Pacino Stands by His Casting as Jewish Nazi Hunter for New Amazon Series

    Amazon/Christopher Saunders

‘The Godfather’ star shares his belief that actors should not be limited to their ethnicity as his co-star Logan Lerman calls criticism over the veteran actor’s casting ‘bulls**t.’
    Feb 15, 2020
AceShowbiz – Al Pacino has defended his casting as a Jewish person in his new Amazon Prime Video series “Hunters (2020)”.
“The Godfather” star, who is of American-Sicilian descent, plays Meyer Offerman, the Jewish head of a group hunting Nazis in New York in the 1970s in the series, but is unconcerned over criticism of playing a character from a different background to his own.
Pacino tells British newspaper that if actors are “limited to your ethnicity” he would only be able to play New York Italians.
He went on to say that he believes that he has “no problem” with such roles – as long as he fulfils the writers’ vision.
“Maybe more in films because it’s more literal or more naturalistic, but if you play the oboe, you play the oboe,” he adds. “It doesn’t matter what you are, you’re in the orchestra, you’re doing the thing, you’re playing the music. (Here) you’re playing the playwright.”
His co-star Logan Lerman, who is Jewish, objected to the idea Pacino should have been passed over for a Jewish actor, adding: “That’s bulls**t. As a Jewish person I can say that. Come on, anybody can play the role.”
The 79-year-old has played a famous Jewish character on screen before, taking on the role of William Shakespeare’s infamous moneylender Shylock in a 2004 movie adaptation of “The Merchant of Venice”.
Now, he has another of the playwright’s characters in his sights – ageing monarch King Lear.
“My hope is that I’ll get through this next phase of my life with all the stuff that’s going on and look at Lear again – seriously thinking about making a film of it,” he reveals. I wouldn’t do it on stage. It’s not what I want to go on stage with, Lear, but in a film…”.
    “Hunters” debuts on February 21.
