Lorraine in awkward Rick Astley blunder as fans spot spelling error during chat

Lorraine viewers were left distracted by a spelling mistake on Friday’s show, as an 80s pop star lost a letter in his name.

Scottish presenter Lorraine Kelly presented a tribute to Rick Astley on the show, playing his iconic hit song Never Going to Give You Up throughout the studio.

However, as a video clip from Rick’s new TikTok account popped up on the screen, his name had clearly been spelled wrong.

Instead of spelling his first name like “Rick,” the letter C had vanished, leaving the name: “Rik.”

The text read: “Rik Astley’s Never Giving Up!”

Pointing out the typo on Twitter, one viewer shared a screengrab with the caption: “Nice spelling…”

“That clip has been viewed three million times. Vote for Rick Astley, that’s what I say – he’ll never let you down.”

Rick’s name has made headlines after he hinted his popular song could be used as part of a “RickTok Rolling” trend on the short-form video app TikTok.

Joining the app for the first time, Rick announced his arrival by sharing a video of himself dancing in a trench coat.

He wrote: “Still not giving you up. Welcome to RickTok!”

When YouTube first became a global phenomenon, it was popular for users to “Rick Roll” others, placing an unexpected clip from Never Going to Give You Up in the middle of a video.

Now, the retro YouTube trend could be translated to TikTok, surprising viewers with the 80s hit in the middle of their seven-second clips.
