This Morning fans fuming as Madeleine McCann segment awkwardly interrupted

This Morning viewers took affront to a strange noise interrupting a segment on Madeleine McCann on the show earlier today.

Hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were joined by police officer Jim Gamble and Clarence Mitchell, the representative for the McCanns, on the show.

The interview came after police announced there was a new suspect in the case of Madeline’s disappearance, which occurred in a Portuguese resort in 2007.

Gamble started discussing the developments in the case via video call, but a tapping noise from his webcam interrupted him throughout.

He said: “The truth is the beginning of this investigation, in my opinion, was bungled.

“That’s not a direct criticism of the Portuguese police, it’s a reflection of the fact that these police cases are very rare.

“Pieces of the information at the beginning, I discovered in the review I carried out, weren’t kept together in the sense that you’d expect.”

Taking to Twitter, viewers complained about the odd noise, concerned it was compromising the interview.

“What is that knocking noise !! Oh my it’s going through me,” added a second.

While a third chimed: “What’s going on with this guys webcam?? So annoying!!”

And a fourth remarked: “Is someone gonna answer that door?! That knocking is p***** me off.”

Phillip asked Clarence about “shutting up the trolls” who have been plaguing Madeleine’s parents (Image: ITV)

Later in the interview, Phillip asked Clarence about “shutting up the trolls” who have been plaguing Madeleine’s parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, since the case began.

Clarence said: “Yes, unfortunately, its a factor of social media and has been throughout.”
