Coronation Street star 'spoiled' Seb's death weeks ago with backstage photo

Coronation Street fans have suggested that Asha Alahan actress Tanisha Gorey spoiled Seb Franklin’s death a few weeks ago with an Instagram photo.

Seb (played by Harry Visinoni) died from injuries sustained when Corey Brent (Maximus Evans) and his gang beat him and Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) up, just for the way they were dressed.

However thanks to a behind-the-scenes photo which Tanisha shared to her Instagram story, fans reckon they knew a death was on the cards.

In the video, which was deleted not long after it was posted, Corey actor Maximus posed on the iconic Manchester set wearing an all-black suit.

Fans assumed it meant the thug was destined for a court appearance, potentially spoiling the heartbreaking outcome of the storyline.

Sharing their thoughts, one viewer said: “It felt like a huge spoiler to me and I was shocked she put it up!

“It basically gave away that Corey would end up in court.

“As soon as Seb and Nina were attacked I was really worried one of them would die – it’s the only reason he’d be up in court.”

The tragic death still came as a shock to many – including character Abi Franklin, played by Sally Carman.

During Friday night’s episode, Abi was told that her son had died, and her portrayal of a grieving mother left fans seriously impressed.

One said: “Oh God… Abi’s screams after finding out Seb was dead were absolutely haunting. Award-worthy acting from Sally Carman.”

Another told Sally: “You were amazing in tonight’s episode, very powerful, emotive scenes. Really hope that this storyline will help to tackle prejudice and intolerance towards goths and other sub cultures.”

The attack on Nina and Seb was inspired by the real-life murder of Sophie Lancaster.

Sophie and her boyfriend Robert Maltby were set upon in 2007, just because they were goths, and she sadly died of her injuries.

A gang of thugs first started attacking Robert, and when he lost consciousness, they set upon Sophie, who was cradling Robert’s head in her lap.

The duo received serious head injuries and their faces were so swollen and bruised that doctor’s struggled to identify who was the male and female patient.

Robert recovered eventually – though lost memory of the time leading to and during the attack – but Sophie sadly died 13 days later.

Corrie have worked with the Sophie Lancaster Foundation on the story, with her mum Sylvia explaining she wanted to show people that being different is nothing to be afraid of.

Coronation Street continues Monday at 7.30pm on ITV
