This Morning viewers noticed something rather peculiar on Friday morning, after presenter Eamonn Homes shared a video of himself heading to work without wife and co-host Ruth Langsford.
In the short 50-second clip, TV personality Eamonn could be seen addressing his fans and thanking them for their support during he and Ruth’s first week on the daytime show.
But fans realised that Ruth was nowhere to be seen.
As he headed to the ITV studios while being driven by a chauffeur, Eamonn, 61, took to Instagram and said: “Hello there, good morning to you.
“I’m on my way to work today and it’s a gorgeous sunny day. And a gorgeous sunny day makes me feel very happy, mostly very happy that we are back on This Morning this week and we’d just like to thank everybody who has made it such a pleasure for Ruth and I in welcoming us back.”
He continued: “So, after today it will be one for week gone, six more to go.
“And we can’t guarantee the weather will be there, like this, throughout the run but we certainly will be and what we need is your company.
“So, however your Friday shapes up, I hope it’s a good one, I hope the sun shines on you over the weekend and you get to enjoy it.”
Bringing the video to an end, he chimed: “Thanks for watching, see you from 10 o’clock this morning and indeed next week for the next six weeks after that!”
But although fans loved the clip and showed their appreciation by hitting the like button, some followers found it odd that he travelled to work without wife Ruth.
One fan asked: “Lovely having you back. You and Ruth have such great banter. Do you and Ruth travel separately?”
Another quizzed: “Why don’t you and Ruth both travel together?”
Last year, Ruth did confess that herself and Eamonn do in fact travel alone, even though they are heading to the same place and are expected to be there at the same time.
Talking to Platinum Magazine, Ruth said: “We tried going together once and it was an absolute nightmare because he made me half an hour late.”
She added: “He was saying, ‘What do you need to be in at 8am for?’ He’s a ship-up-10-minutes-before kind of guy. That’s where we are absolutely on opposite ends of the scale.”
Ruth and Eamonn have been married for 11 years and share one child together.
The pair have presented ITV’s This Morning side-by-side since 2006 and usually take the reins from Holly Willoughby and Philip Scofield during the holiday periods.
