Eamonn Holmes has discovered the cause of his chronic back pain – he “mysteriously” dislocated his pelvis, which in turn affected the alignment of his back.
The This Morning presenter, 61, previously revealed he was living a “waking nightmare” as the unbearable pain left him unable to sleep.
Eamonn went to the hospital last week to undergo testing, but due to the Easter break, he was forced to wait one week to receive any results.
Now, the Northern Irish star has thankfully got some answers, discussing his diagnosis in a recent interview with The Irish Independent.
“I mysteriously dislocated my pelvis and I don’t know how — it’s not as erotic as it sounds,” he said.
“My back is now out of alignment as a result.”
Despite his diagnosis, Eamonn’s discomfort continues, as he went on to explain he is in “huge pain” as a result of the dislocation.
The broadcaster added his wife Ruth Langsford fully understood the pain he was enduring, after witnessing his agony in recent weeks.
Describing chronic pain, he said: “Nobody knows what it’s like unless they live with someone who has it.
“I’m in huge pain and nobody knows how to stop it.
“This hurts like hell and I need to find a way to overcome it. It has lasted a month and it feels like I can’t remember what life was like without the pain.”
Last weekend, Eamonn lay restless in the early hours of Sunday morning, reaching out to his online community in a bid to get some advice.
A little after 3am, he asked: “Well time to check in again ….. who’s not having a good night ? Who has pain that’s stopping them being in a beautiful dream ?
“Who is living a waking nightmare through #ChronicPain? Just trying to get us all speaking to each other and offering comfort and support.”
Eamonn previously promised to raise awareness for chronic pain, using his platform as one of the UK’s leading TV personalities to draw attention to the all-too-common plight.
He told his fans: “I’ve felt for you all, promise to promote this cause, been sad on your behalf and even found time for a chuckle where I didn’t think there could be one…
“Meaning all offers of pain relief cannot be accepted however sincerely meant.”
Eamonn, who is soon to become a grandad for the first time, has been undergoing massage therapy and bracing cold showers in a bid to ease the chronic pain.
