GMB fans gobsmacked over Ben Shephard's 'Kung Fu' remark during interview

Good Morning Britain host Ben Shephard found himself in hot water after making a clumsy comment on Thursday show.

Ben was hit with an angry backlash from viewers when, during an interview with a guest of Asian descent, he described a sound blunder as like “watching a badly dubbed Kung Fu movie”.

The presenter was speaking to Debbie Le – who is half Chinese and half Vietnamese – on the popular breakfast show.

While discussing the possibility of summer school with co-host Susanna Reid, and other guests, the experienced 46-year-old TV anchor made the remark.

Media influencer Debbie was speaking when the sound lagged, leaving the audio and video link out of sync.

Susanna quickly jumped in saying: “We just wanted to apologise as there is a big delay between the picture and what you’re saying.”

But Ben, who is worth a whopping £3.6million, weighed in: “It’s slightly out of sync; you’re like a badly dubbed Kung Fu movie at the moment.

Ben Shephard leaves viewers gobsmacked

“We are going to try and reconnect you so that your mouth and words match up.”

Mum-of-two Debbie didn’t look bothered and smiled as the technical issue was resolved so the segment could be completed.

But GMB viewers were shocked by what Ben had said – and it wasn’t long before social media blew up with fans of the show venting their anger.

One disgruntled viewer blasted: “Did you just refer to Debra Le as a badly dubbed kung-fu movie!”

Viewers weren’t happy with Ben’s comment

Another shell-shocked viewer moaned: “Ben Shephard on #gmb saying the delay on webcam sound is ‘like a badly dubbed kung-fu movie’ when the person on the camera is Asian.”

And the comments continued to follow as fans were left baffled by Ben’s comment.
