Caroline Flack's ex-fiancé Andrew Brady jailed after harassing GB News host

Caroline Flack’s ex-fiancé Andrew Brady has been jailed for four months after admitting to harassing GB News host Dan Wootton.

The former Apprentice star previously admitted to a campaign of harassment against Wootton, with a judge telling him: “This must stop.”

Judge Jeremy Richardson QC, sitting at Sheffield Crown Court, said Brady’s claims that Mr Wootton was in some way responsible for Miss Flack’s death were “wholly irrational”, noting that the former executive editor of The Sun was actually a friend of the Love Island presenter, who died in 2020.

Judge Richardson told Brady his attacks on Mr Wootton, a MailOnline columnist, had “everything to do with your craving for celebrity status and your irritation that the press were not in the least interested in your somewhat uninteresting life.”

Brady, 31, of Cross Bedford Street, Sheffield, admitted harassment at a hearing earlier this week and was on Friday jailed for four months.

Judge Richardson noted that, given the time the defendant served on remand, he would be released in the “very near future”.

He imposed a 10-year restraining order banning Brady from contacting Mr Wootton, posting anything about him online, or going within 200 yards of his home or workplace.

Describing some of the social media posts and messages about Mr Wootton as “utterly outrageous”, Judge Richardson warned Brady he faces a prison sentence measured in years if he breaches the order.

Brady admitted at Sheffield Crown Court on Wednesday (February 2) that he had harassed the journalist on social media between February and April in 2021.

He branded Wootton a murderer and sex offender in online messages.

He had also told the television presenter that he would “settle the matter by violence”.

Following the court appearance earlier this week, he was remanded in custody until his sentencing today (February 4).

Brady had been warned that he could face a maximum of six months in prison.

He had faced further, more serious allegations of putting Wootton in fear of violence, but changed his plea to admit the lesser charge of harassment.

The court heard how Brady had started harassing Wootton, the former executive editor of The Sun, around a year after Caroline Flack’s death on February 15, 2020.

He admitted to using social media and video platforms to cause distress.

He compared Wootton to sex offender Harvey Weinstein and claimed he had evidence, invited his social media followers to help him, said he “felt like getting rid of him once and for all”, said matters “should be settled by violence” and stated his intention to end Wootton’s career.

Brady also left WhatsApp voice messages for Wootton in which he threatened violence, claimed that Wootton should be jailed, and sent him an explicit image and invited him to engage in sexual activity.

Judge Jeremy Richardson QC said to Brady on Wednesday: “The important thing is that you stop doing what you did.

“You must move on with your life, it is hoped to sunnier uplands.

They later called it off but were back together by August of the same year, when they were pictured together in Ibiza.

However they broke up again a few months later, and did not get back together.
Caroline tragically took her own life on February 15, 2020.
