First Dates star Merlin Griffiths announced he has left hospital after having bowel cancer surgery.
Merlin, 47, revealed in September last year that he was battling stage three bowel cancer after experiencing pain in June.
Yesterday (April 20), he shared the news that he had left the hospital after six days and credited his “robotic surgery.”
Sharing a selfie in front of the blue sky, the Channel 4 star wrote: “And breathe. 6 days, start to finish. Now for real #cancer recovery. I’ve had open laparotomies before and the recovery was 6 weeks in hospital before robotic surgery!! Amazing.”

Merlin he has kept fans thoroughly updated on his journey since confirming his diagnosis and last week (April 14), shared a photo of himself on Instagram in his hospital bed preparing for surgery.
The reality star wrote: “Ready as I’ll ever be. Tumour removal time #bowelcancerawarenessmonth.”
Hours later, the barman took to Twitter to thank the NHS for saving his life and shared a photo of himself post-surgery along with a picture of a machine used for surgery.

On Tuesday afternoon, the reality star took to Twitter once again with another selfie from his hospital bed.
Wearing a hospital gown and a dressing gown, Merlin gave a thumbs up to the camera and penned: “Almost there. Another day and then off home.”
The 47-year-old first started experiencing pain back in June which was caused by scar tissue in his stomach from a car accident when he was 20.
On his latest post, Merlin has been inundated with support from his fans.
One user wrote: “Wishing you all the best in your recovery Merlin. Thanks for sharing your journey through this – it will help many people.
A second penned: “You look fantastic, speedy recovery to you.”
Merlin became the friendly face behind the bar on Channel 4 dating show First Dates where he helps nervous singletons break the ice during their dates.
