Actor Ray Liotta has sadly passed away in his sleep at the age of 67, it has been reported.
The Hollywood star, famed for his role in the classic Martin Scorsese film Goodfellas (1990), had been shooting the movie Dangerous Waters in the Dominican Republic – according to Deadline.
His cause of death is currently not yet known, but no foul play has been suspected.
Liotta is survived by his daughter Karsen and his fiancé Jacy Nittolo.
The actor had been starring in the upcoming Elizabeth Banks film Cocaine Bear, and was due to star alongside the likes of Demi Moore in ongoing project The Substance.
Born in New Jersey, Ray enjoyed a number of hit roles, including Shoeless Joe Jackson in Field of Dreams (1989) and Something Wild (1986), for which he received a Golden Globe nomination.
Video game lovers will also recognise him as Tommy Vercetti in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (2002).
The actor also starred in films such as Unlawful Entry (1992), Hannibal (2001),The Place Beyond the Pines (2012), and Wild Hogs (2007), where he appeared with John Travolta.
Ray made his film debut in the 1983 movie The Lonely Lady before gaining his first Golden Globe nod in Something Wild.
He then took on his iconic role of real-life American mobster Henry Hill in Scorsese’s classic crime flick Goodfellas, which was won five BAFTAs and was nominated for six Oscars.
As a youngster, Ray was abandoned at an orphanage before he was adopted at six months old by auto-parts store owner Alfred Liotta and a township clerk, Mary.
Liotta used to be married to fellow actress Michelle Grace, and they welcomed their daughter Karsen before divorcing in 2004.
The star discovered a love for horse riding when filming the miniseries Texas Rising for The History Channel in 2015.
Speaking of his new hobby in 2014, he said: “I was obsessed with riding horses [on the show]. I love it now. I’ve never had a hobby. It might be my new hobby.”
