Liam Payne has 'many reasons' why he dislikes ex One Direction bandmate Zayn Malik

Liam Payne has thrown major shade at his former bandmate Zayn Malik, who sensationally parted ways with One Direction back in March 2015.

The pair had shot to fame as two-fifths of the chart-mauling boyband after coming third on The X Factor before taking over the world.

But all was not as it seemed for Zayn who left the band to pursue life as a “normal” 22-year-old away from the glaring spotlight.

Now, Liam, 28, has shed light on his relationship with the Pillowtalk singer during a rather explosive podcast interview with YouTube sensation, Logan Paul.

Recalling an incident between Zayn and Jake Paul when the pair became embroiled in an altercation which Zayn’s ex-girlfriend, Gigi Hadid also got involved with, calling Jake “ugly and irrelevant”.

Liam commented: “She tweeted ‘get yourself a respectful man’ or something… That one didn’t age very well.”

The Strip That Down hitmaker continued: “Before we go too deep into this, there’s many many reasons why I dislike Zayn and there’s many reasons why I’ll always always be on his side.

“If I had had to go through what he went through his growth and whatever else – my parents are overly supportive to the point where it’s annoying at times, they don’t mind me saying that and Zayn had a different upbringing in that sense.

“You can always look at the man for where he is and say ‘oh yeah, whatever, that guy’s a d**k but at the end of the day once you understand what he’s been through to get to the point, and whether or not if he actually even wanted to be there.

“And also, I’m so misunderstood by myself more than anyone, I don’t know what I’m doing or why I’m here, I can’t sit here and d**k on him because of whatever.”

Liam added: “Listen, I don’t agree with any of his actions, I can’t commend some of the things that he’s done.

“I can’t be on his side for that but what I can say is that I understand, and you only hope that at some point in their life, the person on the other end of the phone wants to receive the help you’re willing to give them – that’s all I’ll say.”

In October 2021, Zayn pleaded guilty to harassment and pushing Gigi’s mum, Yolanda, into a dresser.

He was charged with four criminal offences of harassment against the pair and pleaded “guilty” to all four, according to court documents obtained by Daily Star, after a plea of “no contest” was not accepted.

It follows accounts of a verbal and “physical” altercation at Zayn’s home in Pennsylvania.

According to further documents obtained by Daily Star, the singer had “intent to harass, annoy, or alarm another, namely Yolanda Hadid”.

The documents further allege that he called Yolanda a “f***ing Dutch sl*t” and ordered her to “stay away from my f***ing daughter”.
