Freya Wozniak has been an enigma since she arrived in Erinsborough, leaving Neighbours fans desperate to figure out her true identity.
This week, Roxy is set to break into Freya’s home, determined to find out her secrets – but the incident leaves Freya more shaken than ever, even as her romance with Levi heats up.
Meanwhile, Roxy is determined to drag Harlow and Ned to Benalla, Freya’s home town, to search for answers – but will they ever get to the bottom of it all?
There’s more to come next week, as Freya admits to manipulating Levi – confessing she has lied to him and strung him along, on the hunt for her real boyfriend Gareth, who is currently missing.
But why?
Thankfully, actress Phoebe Roberts was on hand to dish all to Daily Star in an exclusive chat, teasing events which will leave Ramsay Street residents reeling.
Explaining who Freya really is, Phoebe said: “Gareth, Freya’s boyfriend, went missing four months ago in the middle of the night, and she’s been trying to find him ever since.
“She thinks that he’s tied up in gang action – and there’s been a home invasion at her house and she’s just been cut off from him completely, so she worries that he is in real danger as well.
“But Freya can’t talk about it with anyone because she doesn’t want anyone else getting tied up in it. So she’s very alone, and it poses a huge danger to her and everyone around her.”
But why Erinsborough?
“Freya was watching the news after the Flamingo Bar [explosion],” Phoebe said. “There’s a news report about it and she spots Gareth in the background of the news report, so she goes straight to Erinsborough and tries to find him.
“He was wearing a scarf that Freya had given him, and then when she arrives in town, Ned is wearing that scarf. So she’s like, ‘How did you get that scarf?’ and it all starts from there.”
Phoebe added: “She’s got absolutely no connection to Erinsborough at this point. She literally was just lured there by that news story, so it’s very interesting because that rarely happens on Neighbours!
“She has absolutely no ties and then when she gets there, she starts to build relationships with certain cast members.”
However, Phoebe insists she sees Freya as a “victim”, confessing: “I’m quite biased, but I definitely see her as a victim. She has lost the person who she thought was the love of her life, the only person who she trusted and the reason she is estranged from her family.
“He up and leaves her, and she’s left alone in everything. So she’s a victim in the way that everyone she has trusted has abandoned her.”
Phoebe added: “She can be perceived as extremely fiery, a real loner and quite easy to anger – but it’s all a real defence mechanism so that she doesn’t let anyone get too close to her, because they might hurt her as well.”
She added of Freya’s storyline: “It’s pretty full on. There’s a lot of violence – there’s a heap of violence, which I know isn’t uncommon for Neighbours, but it’s quite gruesome violence.
“All of Freya’s fears are really confirmed by what unfolds. I think viewers will be surprised at how some of the other characters deal with Freya’s presence in the town – she’s not treated well by a lot of the characters.
“I think that they will be pretty surprised at how full on it gets in the peak of this story.”
